  1. Does anyone know where their horns are warming up? I was looking last night in the park and only saw their drumline. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Does anyone have the time for each corps performance for tonight? I can't find it anywhere yet.
  3. I've been mostly listening to Bloo. My 2 year old son watched the video of their performance once, and now every time he hears the audio during the pitch bend, he leans over in his high chair just as they do. I never taught him that, but I guess he's a Bloo fan, so I'm going to play it over and over until I wear it out. The kid barely can say words, but he knows the exact moment to body lean.
  4. I was there for the afternoon rehearsal as well as the evening performance. Like many others, I was going in with a somewhat negative attitude about Christmas music, however I really did enjoy the brass performance. That being said, the battery left a lot to be desired. I realize its early in the season, but seeing this idential performance last year in Allendale prior to the season starting, I feel that the battery is well behind where they were in 2011. I hope they turn it up shortly, but there were signifigant inconsistances that I'm not used to seeing from the Cadets this early in the season. Loved the Brass and Pit. Can't wait to see the corps again soon.
  5. I was in High School as a percussionist who never practiced that much. I was an average player at the time, at best. My instructor took me to see the Blue Devils rehearse (1994) in Allentown as well as the Allentown, PA show; I was hooked. I didn't know that there was activity like this out there, and I knew I had to be a part of it. I think I upped my practice time from 20 minutes a day to hours and hours per day. A simple event of going to a single DCI show turned me around musically, to the point where now I'm an instructor and doing the same thing with my students.
  6. I know you are still looking for Phantom's location, so Friday - Sunday, Phantom will be at: Mt. Olive High School 18 Cory Rd. Flanders, NJ 07836
  7. I believe the Cavs are at West Milford HS, a good 45 min away from the stadium.
  8. What was the cavies 95 change? That was my first year of experiencing DCI and I only saw them at finals.
  9. I don't mind an open discussion about electronics. However, I do have an issue with saying that if you are not sitting right on the 50 next to the judges, that you don’t have the right to complain about an absurd amount of Goo. Before the Goo was so evident, you could sit nearly anywhere um and still enjoy the show without one significantly overpowering/overbalanced sound. So pretty much 95% of the audience doesn’t have the right to complain due to their seat location? That just doesn’t jive with me.
  10. On a slight tangent, I think I'm in a minority here, but I only clap at the end of a show. I know fans, especially at bigger events like Allentown & Finals love to cheer wildly for every big brass hit or every major guard toss, however I just hold my praise for the end, simply for the fact that I'm straining to hear the big brass hits over the crowd cheering. Don't get me wrong, at the end of the show, I show my appreciation of all of the hard working corps members by clapping enthusiastically, usually standing, just not during the show itself.
  11. Also, be sure to reach out to your old & existing band instructors for sponsorship. Every one of my students who has ever asked me for a donation to their summer dues was given something to help them along their way. I'm sure they'd be glad to help if they have the means.
  12. Does anyone know if Madison will be at this site on Sunday too (since it is close to their Sunday Clifton, NJ show)? I would love to swing by but would hate to make the trip if they've moved on.
  13. I voted for Triple Crown for a different reason. Although I've been going to shows every year since 1994, 2007 was the first year I took my wife to see a show. She's never seen drum corps in person, only on videos I have which really don't have the same impact. She was rooting for Phantom (mostly because we watched them rehearse all day), however, she started to really enjoy the Crown show during their performance. Near the end of their show, after the vocalization part and the "heartbeat" bass drum sound, the corps entered back in with their powerful ending and huge tuba sound, and then she lost it. She started crying. I'm not an emotional guy, but to watch a corps move her that much was amazing. She was hooked on drum corps after that Crown 07 show.
  14. I saw them in Allentown on Friday, and I'll be the first to tell you that the Cadets haven't been one of my favorites over the past few years. I had the same expectation going into Friday but the Cadets gave me a full 180. I was very impressed with their show, especially for being that early in the season. I can't wait to see them progress throughout the season. The only one complaint I had was in the ballad. Near the begining of the ballad the horns were playing a really beautiful soft part of the piece, however all I could pay attention to was an overbearing synth that was playing a Harp sound. It took away from the other 149 members playing some beautiful music. I really hope that gets turned down quite a bit.
