I must say I completely admit that I have posted emotional and "angry" posts in the past. I have matured since then, or at least that is what my girl friend tells me. And as we know, she is always right. It does crack me up to read "angry" posts- those where I can imagine the poster's red face, flailing demeanor, cursing while they type to another poster that they cannot have an opinion that is different than there own. It's one thing to disagree on the subjective, Crown versus Devils, Academy versus Spirit, but when it is simply people stating how they honestly feel about a single word or phrase that effects them in certain ways is fact and honesty. While a few of the posts questioning if the show title was the best decision, I find most posts in these regards to be professionally written questions and yes, a few that may come across to some as mild finger wagging. I read nothing that indicates anyone is anti-Cavies or not willing to see the show with an open mind as to the shows content and the reason for choosing the show title. All is good.

Same here. With so many great choices out there . . . The words/title of the tune bring zero emotional value.

I am not sure you are being serious. Are you trolling? Correct me if I am misreading your post, BUT, if one follows the logic of your opinion, uniforms/costumes do not matter. Phantom could wear neon green tuxes this summer while doing a show about Joan of Arc. Last year's SCV could have worn bunny rabbit costumes, long pink ears and white puffy tail included. SOS could have shown us 150 nuns ship wrecked on a island, and Troopers could simply have done their show in ripped jeans and second hand store old beer brand T-shirts. You can argue that back in the day the corps wore uniforms that linked them only to their corps and not to any music choice or show theme. Yes, this is true. But dressing special characters in productions was soon followed by show-themed costumes for the guard, and now uniforms/costumes for the brass and percussion- all carefully crafted to bring the effect of the show to a higher level than uniforms that are not linked to the music, style, vibe, theme at all. I assume every competent GE judge, certainly early in the season or upon first viewing, comments and considers the scoring value of the uniforms/costumes, head gear, lack of head gear, flag designs, prop designs, every color they see, etc.

Madison will not rally. Sad. You cannot put a show that bad out there and attract great talent. You cannot have a new staff, most of whom have had little to no competitive success much less experience in the past twenty years, and rally. I voted for MC.

Well, we will have to wait and see, right? Madison's show was poorly conceived and poorly written plain and simple. We cannot lump all creativity in this activity into a "won't work" box if that is not our cup of tea, if that is what your post is inferring.

Cool. More interesting than several past entire shows. Eager to see and hear more.

Sorry, Boss. I appreciate your loyalty and all, but did you hear them this summer. I mean really hear them. Lots of rows to hoe to get that field producing an Ott.

That show is better than what Crown did when they won. Not talking anything away. just ####.

Crazy how good DCI is getting. Crown does that and probably won't win. You ####### kidding me?

WOW! Bluecoats. That was on fire. We will see what everyone else brings, but ####! DCI champs most years with that performance.

Some trumpets and mellow were so sharp at the end they were almost a half step up from the written note. Ouch! It hurt.

I guess I am hearing a different hornline than everyone else. Rough to my ears in most all ways. The show is so forced it seems like no one in the design room said "let's do this man theme but elevate it here and there and offer something other than forced stereotypes". I just can't get into it. The end is really forced. Just want it to stop.

Madison and Mandarins are my vote for 11th and 12th. Then Colts, SCVC, and then Crossmen, maybe, or SOA of BDB.

Crossmen trumpet solo from the start sets me in the wrong direction and it is largely downhill from there. I tried. All season. Really. Just does nothing for me in any way. Would much rather see Mandarins and Madison again.

Wow, SCVC! That was smokin. Relentless. Until this point everyone has had a few of those slight to severe cringe moments. Not you. Open Class Championships well deserved. Congrats!

So for the top 5: BD had a great run, but was not over the top tonight. A few too many individual mistakes and a flat closer. SCV was on fire. Also with a few individual mistakes, but not to the degree as BD. Most impressive in overall achievement. Crown has a great new ending. Thought they performed better than BD and SCV but with a show that is not as good overall. Bloo was on fire. Ballad just not working near as well as the rest of the show. Cavies were flat. The show felt awkward and amusical to me tonight. Horn line was rough. The concept came across super forced.

Agree, totally, except I do not like Crossmen's music. Love the original. Love BD version. Even love SOA's version. Both had some guts and energy.

Not to beat the horse that has been dead for a decade, but . . . different night, different stadium, different temperature, different order, different day, different show vibe, different drum tuning, different wall/no wall/track/no track, etc. At the new level that is current day drums corps, I do not see this 1 point or so shift unplausible.

And that there BD is how you do an ending. I know that this year's show leads us to looking out the window at what comes next, but there is currently not near this level of emotional value, show "wrap-up", or level of visual/narrative resolution.
