Woodwinds/Others marching corps!
Daniel replied to IDYL krnbasslst's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
When i first entered corps i was a flutist in my high school marching band. When the competitive season was over i switched over to tuba. So i only had about a month of tuba playing under my belt before i auditioned. Made it. -
Anything Cavaliers. Their drill is amazing.

Jupiter Brass/Quality Control
Daniel replied to drumcorps45's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
My corps is marching Jupiters this year. And from what i gather from the corps, the high brass is alright. Everyone in low brass is absolutely loving the Jupiters (except for the few that played on better quality horns). Of course these horns still have their issues. I play contra and the only problem there really is, is the valve aligners. They're made of plastic and the buttons screw off after a few minutes of playing, which in turn makes the valve aligners loose and shift. Everything else is great. -
Drum Corps "Why didn'ts...."
Daniel replied to TimbreDeBrass's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Why are people avoiding the obvious and not looking at the scores? -
Nothing gets my contra bone harder than contra chicks.

A) I started playing a brass instrument and one semester of school wasn't going to cut it. At the time i started playing a brass instrument my band director started showing DCI videos to the class ( since we weren't doing anything) B) The experience was awesome. And the people, everyone loves doing what you love doing. There aren't people in the corps that don't want to be there, that don't want to give it there all, that don't want to be out in the field as much as you do. C) I became way more responsible. I started drum corps in my sophomore year in high school and prior to my first season of DCI my grades were terrible.

The videos are public http://www.youtube.com/user/pcyaomedia

I'm not a rep for PC in any way, but there are camp update videos that are released after each camp. As far as the show goes they are trying to not reveal anything until the season. With all the new talent that came into the corps, this could be the year that they make top 12.

CHANGING THE NUMBERS IN A HORNLINE
Daniel replied to kentw's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
tl;dr more tuba -
I am a brass guy and with that being said i am already uninterested in guard, but i too am amazed when a rifle or a flag are dropped. Aside from costumes the guard work doesn't really fit with the shows imo.

SCV Corps Jacket Sold on eBay
Daniel replied to SCVBass1986's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
What in the... Whoever sold it must have just found lying around somewhere. They seem to not know anything about SCV or Drum Corps. -
Things you are most excited for this season?
Daniel replied to wesleyrp's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
1. Me actually going on tour 2. I cant wait to see the corps with staff changes shows. 3. Some of the lower corps making finals. Preferably The Academy and Pacific Crest, they have changed their direction along with changes in their staff and have been doing better every season. I cant wait to see what becomes of them this year. 4. BAC coming to the west coast. -
Roland Electronic Marching Percussion
Daniel replied to bmjfelts1988's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I don't think it would have much use on the field. I'm pretty sure some pits use a synth drum. If i remember correctly i think BD had one of these by their booth at the RCC show. -
Well, when i need to carry something backwards i can haul ###. If that counts o-o

2012 Gold To Journey To DCI Open Class Finals
Daniel replied to DCP NewsFeed's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
This is going to be something. Gold has been pretty good these past few years. Last year they weren't far behind from SCVC and BDB. With a tour who knows they might place top 5 in Open Class finals. -
What's with all the hate for BD
Daniel replied to koburd's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
It's their design that gives that gives them a medal. -
What's with all the hate for BD

I honestly don't understand how people could call them a bad corps after placing top 3 for more than a decade. -
"In Soviet Russia...."
Daniel replied to FaustianMachine's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
In Soviet russia, Pioneer has a tenor line. -
Pacific Crest is having auditions this weekend.
-
Just heard the song. It would make an amazing brass ballad. I think the Bluecoats would do it best.
-
That would be pretty cool. A documentary like series on DCI that including shows all leading up to finals on the Discovery Channel.
-
Thanks guys. I will definitely go for PC this summer and no matter where i march im pretty sure ill be happy.
-
So its that time again. We all know what im talking about... Auditons. Everyone is out and about and im still here deciding on which corps to try out for. With the economy (yeah im using it as an excuse) I can really only audition for one corps. Im really leaning torwards Pacific Crest, but im new too marching world class and like most people i just want to march everywhere. Since im from the west coast i still have time as auditions are in december. I really dont know what to do right now. Whether i should just wait it out and see if any top 12 corps have holes before spring training or go through with auditioning for Pacific Crest. DCP community Im in need of some guidance x.x
