  1. Can anyone provide the repertoire for the 2014 Yokohama Scouts in the clip?
  2. I sense upward momentum gaining for Crown and Bluecoats since shows have been announced and whatever clips shared. The winner will be the DCI premier in Indy and those tuning into the Fan Network. Too bad we can't have BD and SCV there too. We're going to have to wait until July 11 in MN to see these top dogs all head-to-head.
  3. I would agree with you. "Uffe's" seemed like a natural. "Hymn" was a no-brainer. The percussion piece was phenominal, and the closer - well, the arrangement, followed by the Pitch Bend was pure genious! That stated, I bet there were some that may have had muted expectations until they heard it on the field.
  4. Don't underestimate the dynamic duo of Doug Thrower and Tom Rarick. For TILT, the unabridged versions of "Uffe's" or "to-waLK-Or-ruN-in-wEst-harlem" may not have had many jumping for joy either. And yet, look what Doug did with these pieces! Not to mention the wisdom to leave much of "Hymn" intact. Part of the beauty is how these things get arranged and the vision and expertise to put it on the field.
  5. Jump'in Jimmeny! Just heard the small excerpt on their facebook page. Wow, amazing! Really, really digging this!
  6. What does the DCP community think of this idea: "To DCI: For all that have a current Fan Network subsciption, we realize that the copyright issues you've faced are outside of your control. That said, those who did purchase the Fan Network, did so expecting to have a full repertoire of historical shows. Since so many of those shows have been removed, it would be a good customer service gesture to have a coupon code good for x% off a renewal subscription, or x% off the purchase of the Essensials Collection." I have submitted the above suggestion to DCI.
  7. I'll add this: having the Fan Network with so many shows over the years was easy to take for granted. Now that so many of the shows have been removed, I realize how great the service was. It's kind of "you never really knew what you had until it's gone" sort of thing. Someone who posted that older shows will go up in value, that never seems more accurate than now.
  8. So, they finally did it! SCV Phantom of the Opera - 1989 and 1988 both gone! Phantom Regiment finally comes out on top in 1989! It took 25 years to do it, and it took licensing rights to do it.
  9. Let's Go Crown! Got our NightBEAT TOC tickets today!
  10. Closing the upper sections makes sense. For the MAC basketball tournament, the upper section Quicken Loans Arena is curtained off. It actually makes the place feel and look better. I'm sure there's also an operational cost advantage of not having to have the those sections opened.
  11. Performers will always prefer turf. Also, stadiums with natural grass typically will prohibit the use of tarps.
  12. BDB and SCVC had nice shows in 2014. However, I don't see them challenging for a top 12 spot. The top 12 lately is as hard as it has ever been to crack. Troopers (2013) and Colts (2014) are prime examples of how hard it is to gain that 12th spot. Last year, even a late surge of Spirit and Colts wasn't enought to get in - even with the 1pt spot by Crossmen. Then you've got Pacific Crest and The Academy - always bringing excellent shows along with the likes of Oregon Crusaders.
  13. I'll put you down in the "no" category on if you are an electonics enthusiast!
  14. Eat 'em up Boston! Sounds like it's going to be aa great show for you this year! "Conquest" YES!!!
  15. For me, it depends on the Venue. Some stadiums such as Akron, the accoustics are terrific and you can have the best of both worlds. However, when in Atlanta or Indy, lower is definitely better due to reverb from the indoor stadiums - although my ears pay the price. As for video, I like both. Low cam to see what the camera wants you to see - high cam to see what I want to see.
  16. Fairy tales may come true, it can happen to you... Impossible to predict something that you haven't seen. Until the performance product is on the field, I'll say the top 5 will be the same - Blue Devils, Bluecoats, Cadets, SCV, Crown. The title contenders this year will be the 5, with strongest bets to BD, 'Coats, Crown, Cadets. Then it's Cavies, PR, Boston, Blue Knights, Madison, Blue Stars in the next grouping. The remaining finalist spot will be an interesting battle between Spirit, Colts, Crossmen, Troopers. Add in a dark horse in OC, and we'll be in for treat this year for sure. It's a lot a talented groups and not enough finalist spots to go around. Some very talented corps will be on the sidelines on Saturday night.
  17. Blue Coats paging Michael Boo. Paging Michael Boo to the Bloo Courtesy Phone!
  18. Oh, I got it! Maybe this post can serve as a litmus test to determine how hard-wired someone is for drum corps: For example, how many posts within the discussion thread it takes before you realize it's not the team from Concord we're talking about here: 1 post: NCAA nut 2 posts: Well balanced nut 3 or more posts: Drum corps nut
