  1. Ummmmm....California alone has almost 37,000,000 people.
  2. I was actually thinking the offices/parking lots across Great America Pkwy. from the Hyatt would be ideal. There is a hiking/biking path (that runs right behind the Hyatt) that the corps can take underneath the streets rather than waiting for traffic lights much less holding up traffic.
  3. It's quite capable as it hosts DCI's West Championships, but it might be too big. Possible other Open Class venues: Independence HS (San Jose), Cal State East Bay (Hayward, I just like the view), Buck Shaw Stadium (Santa Clara University), James Logan HS (Union City)....and that's without going too far away from Santa Clara.
  4. I'm for it, but I think many are focused more on incorporating the current state of the economy rather than just a simple yes or no. It would be about a 20 minute walk from home for me. San Jose is the 10th-largest city in the U.S. with close to 1mil (it's the largest city in the SF Bay Area). The stadium is going to be built right next to California's Great America amusement park, and right across the street from the Santa Clara Convention Center (hello I & E). The Convention Center is also anchored to the Hyatt hotel which would be the ideal host for DCI in general. Other major hotels nearby include Hilton & Ramada. There is a light rail system already in place with the station practically at the doorstep, and the stadium is easily accessible by two freeways. San Jose Mineta International Airport is about 10 minutes away. There is also an Amtrak stop just on the other side of the 49ers training facility. If you want to visit San Francisco, it's about a 30-45 minute drive north (and I'm being nicely vague). For those who want more heart-pounding adventure, Oakland isn't that far away either. Napa Valley is in the north bay. Santa Cruz & Monterey are about 45 min. to an hour to the south. If you're lucky and the winds are just right, you could wake up to the smell of garlic coming from Gilroy. Stanford Stadium is not big enough for a Finals crowd. It seats 30,000 less than its original shell. Having it here just once will make a lot of people happy, and would be well attended me thinks. It's not very hot, not very humid, and no rain makes for an ideal August night. It's just one of those bucket list things. New Santa Clara Stadium
  5. I see 10 of those "red" CD's are in the iTunes Music Store. Just do an iTunes search for "David Holsinger" and you can see additional CD's that contain his music. I have some of those CD's as well.
  6. June 23 - DCI West @ Stanford - No BK, Troopers this time around, but BAC & Phantom look to be coming out swinging. June 26 - Pacific Procession is back! - Not at San Jose State's Spartan Stadium, but at Santa Clara High School. No BDA, but SCV, PR, BAC, PC, along with SCVC and BDB should still be a good show to go to.
  7. Nice video clip. It'll be nice to see BAC in California this summer!
  8. Vanguard's FB page announced what will represent the "blue" version of the graphic posted a few days ago - John Mackey's "Hymn to a Blue Hour".
  9. The YEA page this video is on says this is only their parade tune.
  10. Yep, very powerful horn lines on G-bugles prior to 2000.
  11. I work for that particular district where my office is next to the school. Bus and equipment truck parking might be an issue as there are solar panels in the student lot now.
  12. June 23rd: Stanford - wish Academy, Cascades, & Troopers were on the list, but I'll give a huge thanks to BAC & PR for coming over to play. New show in Santa Clara on June 26th? Wonder where this one will be. Buck Shaw?
  13. I wasn't thinking '87. I was actually thinking '92.
  14. IIRC, I think the corps pick which performance (quarters, semis, or finals) they would like to have on the dvds/cds.
  15. Shouldn't be a problem since San Francisco seems to be on a free-day list. There's one in Fisherman's Wharf, next to Hooter's. I think the In-N-Out t-shirts there are even labeled with "Fisherman's Wharf" rather than "California". I'm praying for a Stanford World Class lineup as follows: BD SCV Mandarins Pacific Crest Phantom Regiment Boston Crusaders Seattle Cascades Academy Add the Open Class and Seniors, and Stanford could be THE premier West Coast show to go to. Long day, but I'd be game.
  16. Stanford Camp Randall Invesco Stagg (Univ. of the Pacific, Stockton CA) One that I wish to be used again (recently had 2007 Open Class on the way to Pasadena, and I think 1989 prior)... Bakersfield Junior College Memorial Stadium (CA)
  17. Tony, here's something to also check out (assuming you're on a MacBook running Lion). I found it through "Help" just by searching "hdmi". << Video ports If your Mac has a Thunderbolt or HDMI port, it can send audio to your HDTV. If your Mac has a Mini DisplayPort, it may be able to send audio to your HDTV. To see if it can, open System Information (in the Utilities folder in Launchpad), and then select Audio (Built In) below Hardware in the Contents list. Open System Information A list of your computer’s audio devices appears. If HDMI Output or HDMI/DisplayPort output is listed, your computer’s Mini DisplayPort can send audio. >>
  18. Finally got around to posting some of my shots. Click the pic to get to the album.
  19. I heard the weather was fine. If you're tuned into Phantom's FB page, they posted a picture of the corps marching in a tunnel from one side of the freeway to the other side to get to the stadium.
  20. I think SCV's may be on the 4th of July.
