  1. I've known them to delay shows in Arizona and like areas due to heat, so it's not unprecedented.
  2. This. The uniforms were a smart decision by the design staff, which ultimately helped their scores. That and not having giant poles or boxes that get scored on the visual sheets.
  3. This gif perfectly sums up how I feel reading all of you people going insane. Nothing about this announcement is surprising when we've seen it coming for years, but keep the thread going, it makes sitting at work that much more enjoyable.
  4. Source? I'm pretty sure that in his 20 minute show announcement last year, he said that the rest of the design team didn't want to do it because of star and that his logic was 'most of these kids weren't even alive for star 93, why shouldn't they play it?' Would assume that he knew about it, especially how close the end of the 93 season was.
  5. I concur. Cadets haven't placed lower than 5th since 91. BD no lower than 4th since, you guessed it, 91. Your hunch is more like a stretch.
  6. 1,2) Cadets/BD - Two way dogfight from Minnesota until the end. 3) Crown - Percussion will bring them down. ---GAP--- 4) SCV - Organization and programming improving every year. 5) Bluecoats - Close to SCV. Brand new visual staff and marching technique will help greatly. 6) Cavaliers - Slowly attempting to rise back into prominence. 7) Phantom - Personally do not think that the Swan Lake show will translate well to the audience. Falls flat. ---GAP--- 8) Madison - Strong year in all captions, could go higher from here. 9) Crusaders - Drop off after past two years. 10) Blue Knights - Not much movement from years past. 11) Blue Stars - Consistent improvements after 2012 drop off. 12) Spirit - Close to dropping out but manage to stay in. ---Outside looking in--- 13) Crossmen 14) Troopers
  7. Unfortunately, there isn't a caption award for overall music. The drums would definitely influence that, as in this past year where although Crown posted perfect brass, the drum score caused the Cadets to have the highest overall music over the three nights. I feel like drums can play some effect into visual and GE, but listening to tapes in the past, definitely not as weighted as the brass and guard, in music and visual GE respectively.
  8. Might have been more fitting for the 2013 season.
  9. Carolina Crown Cadets (Could have won if props were cleaner and didn't drag down their visual and visual GE score) Blue Devils Santa Clara Vanguard Bluecoats Phantom Regiment Boston Crusaders (feel that they would have ended up here if not for Powdergate on Thursday) Cavaliers Madison Scouts Blue Knights Spirit of Atlanta Troopers
  10. Close to it, yeah. Anywhere between 50 and 80 a given year
  11. Cadets aged out 52 this year, much lower than their usual age out number of 70+.
  12. Or get rid of the props. Watching the last three shows of the week, Cadets had cleaner feet and technique than any of the top three, definitely not a 4th place visual score if it was judged without accounting for props forms and movement.
  13. I still can't wait to see what they bring to the table this year. I'm salivating at the thought of it.
  14. And boom goes the knowledge bomb. Thanks Chris.
  15. Also, ran a 4 place jump going from 5th in 2010 to Champions in 2011.
  16. Okay guys, let's call it a day. No one is going to top that. See y'all tomorrow.
  17. I think that one kid on the right agrees with you. Also, the Cadets horn sergeant working for the caps is a true statement, I believe 2009? No idea what an Ovechkin pledge is though.
  18. Until they move in during the spring like other world class corps instead of doing those camps every weekend of May and June, they will continue to be referred to as a Weekend Only corps. Just the facts of life.
  19. I heard that they originally played that during ensemble, but it was during the technical difficulties. Once the feed was fixed, I assume they didn't have enough time in rehearsal to do it again, what with getting members to the airport and what not.
  20. Baltimore's real team right there. Colts n' O's, man. Colts n' O's.
  21. Nice catch :) And your fish metaphor is quite true.
  22. Remember, 6.1% is only when accounting for DCI and football being the only revenues, and assuming tickets are sold at the same price, which they aren't. When other events are taken into account, I imagine DCI only contributes ~1% of the revenue, at most. While that is still income and a venue should do what they can to take care of the needs of the event, regardless of importance of the event, they don't really have a reason to go out of their way to remove the logo. I doubt DCI's executives really care if it is there or not. Maybe if they were strongly opinionated about it, it might get removed, but they have more important things to worry about.
  23. I'm going to call your bluff on this one. Math involved. Citations below. Let's assume that the only events that occur at Lucas Oil are Pro and College Football (Colts and the Big Ten Championship game, 9 games) and DCI championships. Using the capacity figure from Wikipedia (62,421) and multiply that over the nine games, you obtain a total of 561,789 attendees. If you use the figures from 2012 championships, a total of 36,494 tickets were purchased for the event. If the tickets were priced the same, the DCI number would only constitute 6.1% of their revenue. However, seeing as the average ticket price for a Colts game in 2009 was $86.50 (which has since gone up) is higher than the average ticket for a given DCI championship event, that reduces the percentage of revenue even lower than 6.1%. Take into account the other revenue they obtain through BOA, State sports championships, concerts, etc., DCI does make a contribution to the revenue, but not that significant. That being said, they shouldn't at all feel obligated to spend the money removing the logo. 24. Meh. Tell any baritone line to play the same passage while everyone else sustains and it will cut through. Not as impressive as y'all make it seem.
