  1. In the event it's misting lightly (as it is right now in Bentonville)....what will the corps do? Still perform the full show? Play standstill w/o electronics? Cancel entirely? Luckily we haven't dealt with weather conflicts yet, but I'm curious what the protocol is for spotty rainstorms.
  2. You mean you were responsible with your money? What a novel concept these days.... Those poor students who just had to incur 140k+ in loans to get their underwater-basket-weaving degree that hasn't produced a livable income! If only there were a glut of nanny-staters promising forgiveness for these unavoidable situations!
  3. They're coming to Bentonville, AR in a couple weeks, and we're excited to see them live. But....I haven't been able to find any clips online short of a shaky-cam closer snippet. 1. Has anyone heard the Young Person's ending live? 2. Does it leave you satisfied?
  4. Because everyone's a victim these days. Crown has a female-only brass feature this year....should the male victims, who were barred from this ensemble, cry foul?
  5. Hey, 1984 called.... Use of hackneyed newspeak. Unnecessarily divisive. 15 yard penalty. Repeat 3rd down.
  6. Crossmen....you blew us all away. My entire section thought you should have passed Phantom tonight. Golly, what power!
  7. I expected Crown's brass to carry the evening (and they did), but Crossmen....holy Crossmen. There were at least three moments during their show when I found myself thinking....how powerful, surely this is the end? And. It. Kept. Going. In a good way, of course. What a show, Crossmen. I was not expecting that.
  8. The latest forecast gives us a glimmer of hope! Per Weather.com: "Expect occasional T-Storms to end at 6pm"
  9. Looking forward to a great opening performance tonight in Bentonville! Go Guardians!
  10. Last night I saw the thunderstorms forecast for ~7pm tonight, but that has since been removed....please, pretty please....no rain!
  11. Same!! I'm bringing some buddies who have yet to witness the majesty of DCI live. I hope Crown blows their hair back.
  12. I'm surprised Pioneer is scheduled to perform after Music City and Surf. Don't they, except for the event's host, arrange the World Class corps in ascending order based on score?
  13. I'm a little confused with the performance order....is Academy going next-to-last because they're hosting, or something? I would expect BAC to be after them. Also,Surf after Atlanta?
  14. I understand that every show has its flaws, but BD's 2014 finals performance saw visible early step-offs, and even a quad player falling over. I don't remember miscues that obvious from Frameworks.
  15. The Troopers's show in 2013 was a close second to Crown for me in terms of enjoyment. If it weren't for that killer brass line Crown wields every year....and that Abyss ballad....I'll never forget that resonance. This lineup should be fantastic!
  16. No, your framing of it was improper, and you mischaracterized the point. You must really be fun at parties.
  17. It is you, oh supercilious one. Let me run that back for you: Read: disregard out of hand. He asked, I gave some encouragement that's pretty uncontroversial: strengthen your base/core and eat healthy.
  18. Of course Luke wouldn't interpret it that way, and neither would I. That's not a coherent application of that verse, Stu....that's a straw-man. The message is short and simple: don't rely on just one opinion, especially for important issues. Let him judge for himself: is encouraging a strong core/base and healthy nutrition that far out of the mainstream? As a fitness enthusiast and former marcher, I feel I'm qualified to offer that.
  19. Is anyone tracking the scores from tonight (DCI Kentucky)? I'm curious if Crown surges ahead with this performance.
  20. How arrogant. So you are to disregard all others' opinions for the sake of ONE individual purporting to be an expert in all things health-wise? I cared enough about 'Aspiring Tuba/Trumpet Player' to offer as much detailed advice as I deemed appropriate based on my experience and knowledge base, and you say dismiss out-of-hand? How foolish. Here are some better options: -Eat the meat, and spit out the bones: glean the best truths from each person's counsel, and disregard what you know to be false/counterproductive. -Gather as much information as you can -Seek as many opinions as you can: "Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed." - Proverbs 15:22
  21. First off....I feel for you, man. ACL tears are no picnic. Hope you recover quickly! That said....I'd emphasize two things: core strength and diet. Lower body injuries are often linked to an unstable core. If you read up on Steph Curry's nagging lower-body injuries, he got them because he relied more on his knees/ankles to change his momentum rather than his core and base muscles (glutes, abs, obliques). And what did his trainer suggest? Strengthening his core: deadlifts, leglifts, squats. There's nothing better for injury-resistance than good balance from a solid base. Though, if someone tackles you low and bends your knee the wrong way....good luck preventing that. 80+% of being healthy involves nutrition. I hit the gym at least 5/wk, but if I eat out every day, drink lots of pop, and neglect the good stuff (high-quality proteins, fibrous foods like fruits/vegetables/nuts, and fluoride-free water), it's all for nothing. It'd be better to eat healthy and not exercise. You would feel better in the 'long run'. But don't settle....get your heart rate up AND fuel your tank with what it needs.
  22. Forgive me if this question has been asked already, but I'd rather no scroll through 600+ posts.... What is the deal with the Rammstein-esque guttural voice about 5 minutes in? Are there any discernible lyrics? It sounds demonic at worst, and grotesque at best. In no way would I give it a pass as mere artistic license/expression.
