  1. I'm not feeling any shows yet. Then again, I like drum corps for different reasons than most. The thrill of making something really good. Working as a team. Diesel fumes....the smell of spraypaint on uncut grass on a field next to a nice stadium ;-) Looking forward to Chesapeake, VA
  2. I have a tough time getting a decent signal sometimes with my inno on the bus during band trips and such, but the inno has the .mp3 possibilities as well, so you could always resort to those if the xm didn't work. That's usually what I do. I also have an ipod though, so I bring both. I remember sitting around the rent-a-wreck we had at x-men listening to opie and anthony on breaks...the possibility of having XM on tour makes me want to do tour again....don't have to bring CDs!
  3. Steve Ballard always screams during shows. Dang Ballard Screamers!
  4. Got this from an old roommate who got it from another old roommate and thought I'd post it on DCP www.bigphatjam.com Adam Rapa's solo and all-important vote button is under the trumpet section....it'd be great to get some DCP support going for this great trumpeter. Or make your own :-)
  5. It was always a treat going on after them with Tarheel Sun, hearing him play solos as we sit at the gate. Oh boy :-)
  6. I kid you not.... I used to tell myself that no matter how hard it got, some guy from the generation before me would post on RAMD that they had it worse. Nothing like a little humor to make the day a bit easier. And, take the whole season one block at a time. Good luck!
  7. I'll take the walk from one side of the pit to the other. And the crowd point. $90 a piece, please.
  8. 'nuff said. the chat room is called "drum corps chat". Didn't know if other folks used this internet phone service or not. hooray!
  9. Just got back. They showed the 8 that gongfunker mentioned. We had a few minor sound issues during 1987 Garfield, but aside from that it was a nice evening. A few snippets about California as well. Please vote this as the worst review ever :-)
  10. Gary, thanks for posting this! Reading it made me decide to wear my Crossmen necklace the rest of the day. Joe Kempf was a great member and instructor at the Crossmen, and a darn good drum major as well. He had that swagger that you only see from time to time from people, but boy did it show with him. Joe, you and your family are always in my heart...thanks for being a great member of the Crossmen, and thanks for your bravery. You are missed.
  11. I just remember being really jealous of the Bb hornlines, even though I enjoyed playing the G Bugle. It just didn't seem fair that the Bb lines in 2000 could play more comfortably. Now, I was in the minority at my drum corps at that time, but I really hoped to play a Bb instrument at some point.
  12. I'm cool with it, but where do we start? As a band director, I can't imagine successfully running a drumline, guard, and brass group when we can barely get gym time with just the two ensembles. I'm sure an independent group would have the same issue.
  13. 1998 BAC at the end of the show. A cymbal player goes above and beyond the plume bobbing. Check it out! Pretty sweet!
  14. http://wgms.weta.org/ just a sidenote...carry on my wayward sons.
  15. Living in the DC Metro area, I can attest to the fact that the culture here is to be just too darn busy to give a crap about things while commuting. After all, we don't even have a classical station. Great article
  16. a few favorites: 2000 Crossmen...Caravan 2000 Cadets...first hit at quarterfinals 1999 Scouts at finals...I was under the stadium heading up to the stands and the whole thing was rocking! 1995 Scouts...wow!
  17. stomach cramps after drinking a lot of water really, really fast.
  18. I agree! It was a really great show! Wow. It would take a lot, I'm sure, to have them come out here with the full group and perform, but it would be really fun to watch!
  19. I just watched this performance for the first time and was completely losing my mind. To see the rich Madison Scout tradition....all of those members, the amazing music and appreciative crowd, was simply amazing. If it weren't for the Madison Scouts, I would've never marched drum corps. I saw them in 1983 (I was three years old, mind you) and again in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 (Epcot was amazing), 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006....the scouts have always been a favorite of mine. Thanks, Madison. You inspire us all, and many of us would've never marched drum corps if it weren't for you.
  20. That is what its all about. This is the kind of stuff we need to see on the news....man, how powerful! Is there an email address or something for this group? I'd love to send them a message! Wow!
