  1. I guarantee that section sounds awkward without the singer. The singer adds a nice layer imo
  2. Mike and Genevieve are outstanding and incredibly intelligent in the admin world of drum corps. No doubt these two will lead this corps in a great direction.
  3. So this is my first time ever posting on this channel but I just have a thing or two to say about this show. First off, this is the first BD show that I am absolutely in love with! It just has this nostalgic and modern vibe to it overall. The opening snareline feature sets the tone overall very well. The old voiceovers of "BD stepping onto the field for the first time" sends chills down my spine. That ballad makes me wanna scream and do body rolls. And that closer brings tears to my eyes EVERY SINGLE TIME. I am always that guy who is like "Of course BD's gonna take it all and I hate them for it". But this year I am so happy that this production exists and I would love to see them win this year. Also I've been touring with another group this year (souvies) so I've been able to see them live quite a few times and each time I fall in love even more. I'm sure all of this has been said on here but I just really wanted to post on here for the first time :)
  4. Thanks everyone for the advice! I appreciate and maybe I'll see some of you down the road!
  5. Hey everyone! So this year I'm interning with a world class drum corps (I'm not saying who so that y'all don't harrass me about show info). I'll be one of the merchandising interns and was just wondering if anyone with drum corps experience or interning with a drum corps could give me advice to be successful in my job or on tour in general? I've never been on a drum corps tour before so any insights about things that I wouldn't have thought about before would be a huge help. Thanks!
  6. Has the audio been this quiet especially with brass on dci live for LOS?
  7. I think what they were saying is that the clapping section live was fine, aside from the effects issues. Proper grammar will always provide the best possible communication
  8. I went to a rehearsal a few days ago and got to talk to a few members. I asked about the opener and they said they scrapped the idea. It just wasn't working which is fine because the show is still amazing.
  9. Not sure if there is already a thread but I didn't see one. Also if I started this too early I'm sorry but I'm so flipping excited for this show! I'll be at the show and try to give my thoughts in between shows about how each corps did. I'm right on the 50 yard line with 5 other newbies to DCI so it doesn't get much better than that! Here's the lineup: 7:30 p.m. Welcome & National Anthem 7:40 p.m. The Cavaliers 7:57 p.m. Blue Knights 8:14 p.m. Phantom Regiment 8:31 p.m. Madison Scouts 8:48 p.m. Intermission 9:18 p.m. The Cadets 9:35 p.m. Carolina Crown 9:52 p.m. Santa Clara Vanguard 10:09 p.m. Bluecoats Also for you homers out there don't forget it's a "white-out" so wear white!
  10. There's two different videos of Bluecoats on Youtube from last night.
  11. Is it just the ending or are there more changes throughout the show?
  12. Anyone have updates on Bloo's new ending or if they performed it yet?
  13. I am only commenting here for the pure happiness I have for the Bluecoats winning their first regional. If this is the best it gets for them this season so be it. I'm just glad that this show was a legitimate validation of the work they are putting in NOW. Being a fan of them and following them (and the rest of the drum corps tgat I respect) since 2008 it makes me so proud that some respect is finally coming to Ohio in the small drum corps community we know and love. I can't even imagine the joy coming from the current members and the alumni. I can only express my happiness for them. Lastly, to those saying the Bluecoats will peak, there are changes (that I have personally heard) that may be added to the opener that will remind you of a recent successful year for the Bluecoats that hopefully will be implemented. You'll know when hear/see it. :) Go Bloo!
  14. I would just like to say that I went to Spring Training about 5 times and each time they ran through a "special project". I won't say what it is but I will say that hopefully they are still going to implement it. It is in the opener. If they add it in you will INSTANTLY know what it is and will be reminded of a recently successful year for the Bluecoats. :)
  15. There were sound problems with DCI Live's feed. The left mics were unbalanced during Blue Devil's show just barely. Before Bloo's show the left right volume leveled out but it was lowered I assume to.makensure the sound quality was decent. Right before Blue Stars went on the volume of their feed went up. I have a program on my computer that shows left right levels so that's how I was able to tell especially in between performances. Just thought I would let y'all know :)
  16. Never said they didn't deserve it or that a louder hornline is better quality, just stated an observation.
  17. I found that in 2015 they were not as loud as everyone in the top 4 and I went to three shows with all of them there so I can see where jwillis is getting that. However, they are definitely a lot louder this year!
  18. Love your review! I really agree with a lot of what you said. I'm really excited for you to see Bloo live because it's sooo different. I went to many of the apring training camps and got to attend the last one before they left for Indy and my God.... It's unfortunate that people are already saying that they don't implement the ramps much. The DCI multi-cam only showed a little bit and to me there was only one shot that highlighted the effectiveness of the ramps. There are some fun uses of those ramps that were not seen on that recording :(. Also the audio from the theatres really undermined the surround sound that the Bluecoats deliver in person. It's honestly unreal especially with the pit spread out and their brass can support it. Last thing is during the camps they were experimenting with future show changes (I won't say anything). The only thing I can say about the future add ons is that the Bluecoats will never be stale the summer. I'm rooting for them all the way!
