  1. Meanwhile you can think of us down here in Humid and Sticky South Carolina tonight.
  2. I would if I didn't have that pesky work thing tomorrow. Enjoy!

  4. Last year at this show it was still 100 degrees at 8 PM. Hopefully a bit cooler this year (says high should be "only" 95) but I'm bringing a hand-held personal fan and one of those cooling towels anyway. Welcome to SC. Y'all.
  5. Isn't the word "CONUNDRUM"? Asking for a friend.
  6. I was not aware of that. Is it OK to ask who her father is?
  7. And I see where you're coming from too, and yes, I agree that the brass is incredible in the beginning before the singing. I guess I'm just greedy and I want that great brass to be the focal point through the rest of the show as well (except for a percussion feature of course). IMO they are just too good to be "covered up". In fact, I wouldn't want any corps' brass to be covered up that much. But that's just me.
  8. I have been a Crown fan for decades. I love almost everything they do. But I really hate that I dislike this show so much. Last night was the second time seeing it (first in the theater, last night on Flo) and even though they cut some of the singing, they didn't cut enough. I just don't understand why the vocalist is featured so heavily through 2/3 of the show. On top of singing way too much and for too long, I don't get that wild arm-flailing that she's doing for most of it. I will reiterate what dozens have already said - why oh why would you have the absolute best horn line in all of DCI play back-up to a so-so vocalist (sorry, but if you're going to have a singer at all with that caliber of hornline, he/she better be insanely off the charts great!) for 2/3 of your show. PLEASE Crown, make it a beautiful horn solo. Or if you have to keep the vocalist, let her sing the first verse of For Good and be done. Then give us that beautiful hornline we all love! Trust me, it can hold its own without any help! My husband, who is nowhere near the die-hard drum corps fan that I am, but who nonetheless watches the shows with me, said the vocalist was extremely distracting. He said "way, isn't Crown usually GOOD?" My heart sank because I totally agree. I want to love this show so badly for the brass and percussion and guard, but that vocalist is just not doing it for me and pretty much ruining the show. Sigh.
  9. And I still have that wink as a slide on my screen saver!
  10. You perfectly stated what I've been trying to since I saw the preview show. Just way too much singing. If they must have the singer, I wish they would have her sing the first verse of "For Good" and then stop. I don't like her being front and center for so long. Crown has the best horn line - why should they have to compete with the vocalist? Personally, I'd rather hear a great horn solo instead of a vocal solo - like the one from "Inferno". I'm not completely anti-vocals/voice-overs, but in moderation. I'm not a purist, but I still want to see and hear drums and "bugles" primarily. Crown's soloist is too much. And don't even get me started on the Cadets 8-piece choir singing for the ENTIRE show!
  11. I will be watching at the Columbiana Grande cinemas in Columbia SC. In the past, the theater has never been very crowded. Some high school bands bring their students (or else they just come on their own) but they have always been great bunches of kids and never annoying. Hope everyone enjoys the show!
  12. I used FloMarching for BOA and WGI (month to month) and have never had any of these issues. Never been billed after canceling. Quality was decent, and after upgrading my home internet service, any issues back then were probably on my end.
  13. I also used the FloMarching app on a Roku and had very little trouble. I've used FloMarching twice now - for the 2016 BOA and the 2017 WGI. I had very few problems. Had a few instances of freezing and buffering, but it was probably my home internet, since I had zero problems when watching at work on the computer. I'll be upgrading my home internet before the 2017 DCI season, so I assume that will take care of the few glitches, although nothing is perfect. I'm confident FloMarching will be just fine. It's already working for all the sports stuff, isn't it? *looks to the folks that use it for sports watching for comments*
  14. I watched WGI via FloMarching Thursday at work (shhh, don't tell anyone!) and had zero issues. Didn't get to watch at all Friday but watched all day Saturday at home (used the FloMarching app thru the Roku). Would go for a few hours with no problems, then buffering through an entire show, then would be fine again for a while, etc. I assumed it was my home internet, since I occasionally have issues when watching anything streamed at home, but who knows? I missed a couple of groups, but not enough to make me not use FloMarching again.
  15. But in the other direction from me. I work literally down the street from Williams Brice.
  16. DCI used to hold a show at Williams-Brice back in the mid 80s. And that was before the stadium was renovated and the size increased, so I'm pretty sure it would be quite big enough now. Plus I wouldn't have to travel!
  17. I apologize for not even knowing that someone from Academy did it first when I posted this (I missed that one). I was talking about Shayne from the Bluecoat's first wink at prelims. Although having seen several since then, I loved all the "camera flirts" this year. I think "Best Camera Flirt" should be a new caption.
  18. CV = Curriculum Vitae: a brief account of a person's education, qualifications, and previous experience, typically sent with a job application.
  19. We noticed this while watching the live stream too. And thought it was weird. Like maybe the Cadets changed the name of the show and the announcer forgot what it was? Although I would think he has all that written down in front of him, just in case, no?
