  1. And then like the banking community, they'll swoop in and take over all the little corps until they dominate the activity..mark my words THIS!
  2. never thought about the possible problem a marcher might have with wearing a garment that made them more self conscious about how they looked...and I guess an argument could be made for staying in shape but maybe the marcher spends more time on their instrument and perfecting it than in the gym...The uniforms of old helped mask our imperfections ..LOL
  3. Thank you guys for giving us a show that I thought deserved top 12 consideration..good luck at finals!
  4. let us not forget half naked Jesus!!..Why?
  5. piggybacking on your "but then what do I know", it seems to me that fantasy and pop culture have become predominant in DCI such that the shows start resembling each other..particularly the openings..that's why I enjoy the Cadets and BD..If I never see a blooming flower or a waking from sleep scene again in drum corps, I'll be fine..but then again , what do I know
  6. i hear ya..just don;t think the yolks going back into the egg, because done tastefully amplification can add to a corps product
  7. don't know about scoring, just the sound potential that would make the audience appreciate a more balanced palate
  8. i don't know if this has ever been discussed, so forgive me if it has..Can DCI purchase a sound system that corps can use (or not) so as to establish an equal playing field for all corps..it would seem that a consistent(and reliable) electronics set up would eliminate the variables that have been discussed ad nauseum and eliminate the competitive edge that the wealthier corps have..it sounds more simplistic than it probably is but Pioneer would at least have the access to electronics as does BD...how they're used would still be the creative prerogative of the corps..just a thought!
  9. when i see drum corps show,it'd be nice if the sounds came from the proper side of the field...recently at a live show, the horns on my left were coming through the right side speakers..very confusing and misleading!
  10. Many of the innovations in drum corps came about in part by the contributions of the Cadets under the stewardship of GH..The irony is that the acolytes have changed the activity such that drumming and bugling are now rendered as support to the increasingly important visual design..Now if that's what this activity has become, so be it...As to whether GH should step down I am not qualified to make that call..I will however suggest that 2017 is a tipping point for the Cadets..hopefully, they maintain their current crop of MM's and improve exponentially..Good luck in Indy!!
  11. Just saw the video from McEchern h.s...The second half of this show is as good as if not better than any ending this year..imo..and the Amen chords at the very end..gets a grown man emotional.lol
  12. what i saw and heard last night, though far from perfect, was the first time this season that i felt that the kids gave the audience the opportunity to love this show..scoring aside, the crowd response during and after the closer was what i've been waiting for all season..keep working cadets..it's starting to gel.
  13. I think it was long over due..the horn soloist never made me feel like he embraced the melody but rather just wanted to get through it without making a mistake..good show tonight!
  14. Like several in this forum, I was looking forward to seeing(and hearing) SCV and Devils go head to head,.But the feed was so poor (particularly during their shows) that it doused the vibe for me for the rest of the show...somehow knowing that your feed can abruptly end does not make for a chill, sit on the couch evening..Tomorrow we'll see if these messages make a difference
  15. the cadets and the result of hard work = a show to be proud of..great job tonight!
  16. The two videos from clifton n.j. are still up 7-2-17
  17. thanks for the photo.. brings back great memories
  18. excellent choices..would you also include Hy Dreitzer on your list?
  19. Madison Scouts closer in 2011..Their tribute to New York on the 10 year anniversary of 9/11..WOW! ..Much appreciated by this native New Yorker
  20. how did the show "on the field" look last evening?
  21. again, for the first time?..no doubt it has to be the Chicago Royal Airs, 1965 at an exhibition at Manhattan College's football field(can't remember the name of the stadium)..Wow!! from the OTL on, they kicked major butt..For many of us it was the first time seeing a Chicago corps in NYC
