  1. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens next with the Madison Scouts. I am supportive of them no matter if they stay all male or go co-ed. I just really enjoy watching their shows. Have to comment about the no dad in the home “statistic.” My dad passed away when I was five; my siblings and I grew up without a “decent male role model” and turned out just fine. My mother worked very hard and did the best she could in a very tough situation. Would it have been better if my dad had been around? Probably not as he was quite flawed in many ways. But what I think is more important is how men have really stepped into roles as caregivers. It is amazing to see how men have become much more involved in family life. Quite a lovely change from the days when the roles were much more separate.
  2. Agreed, the media seems to love to pit folks against each other these days for every reason in the world, but it’s all hogwash. We all have more in common than we do differences. Yeah, we are all idiots in our own unique way, but even that we have in common. I’ve lived in California since the 80’s and it gets more and more crowded all the time. We can certainly stand to lose people to the rest of the country, we def need a break from the influx. The problems California faces are no different than the rest of the country, and just like the rest of the US, this is a wonderful place to live. I am still grateful that I get to live here and enjoy this wonderful life.
  3. Saw the show last night at Stanford, sadly SCV did nothing for me. Bf loved it, he was not as much of a fan of Babylon as I was. I liked BD for the first time, lol, loved Academy and Cavaliers, thoroughly enjoyed Mandarins. Everyone seems very raw, look forward to the season progressing.
  4. I wonder if that production team did finals this year...
  5. Posting this in the hopes that someday flomarching will listen to me..lol. Went to Dayton for the first time this year. A bit of a brutal experience..so many performances and not enough sleep. The live shows were thrilling, have a long list of my faves below. Onyx just blew me away, what an incredible show! A friend had recorded the flomarching coverage of some of the performances and I could not believe how much they missed. They seemed to consistently move the camera away from some incredible solo dancers. Stayed way high up during show set-ups, so missed a bunch of action. In general I really love watching the shows on flomarching but when I get to a live show and see how much their cameras miss, it boggles my mind. I would love it if they were able to move their camera from so high up to more of a front of house view... My very incomplete list of faves. There were many many more faves, just couldn’t keep making notes. Paramount open, MBI, JSU, Avidity independent, Delazure, Enzo, Pegasus!, Ovation, Light brigade, Georgia state uni, Fiu, Alta marea, Seminole hs, Les eclipes , The district independent presented by etude!, Alliegance, George mason university!, Sensation performance ensemble!, Amp winterguard!!!, Onyx!!!!, ETUDE, El capitan hs, Dartmouth hs, Milford hs , McNeil hs, Arvin hs, Fishers hs, Bell brook hs, Northview hs,Stoneman, Douglas hs, Warren central hs, Shenendehowa hs. Flanagan hs, Lyman hs, Norwin hs, West broward hs. Quite sad that colorguard season is over..
  6. I emailed today also and received the same reply, something to look forward to in the near future. Downloading my faves from the top 12, it is taking more time/effort than I realized... Will spend the rest of the evening wallowing blissfully in memory lane.. found this..
  7. Looks like the marching music downloads are available for the top 12, hoping for the rest of the corps also. Really looking forward to Troopers and Madison...
  8. I really like a co-ed guard.... Boston guys were amazing this year as were the guys in Madison. I would love for there to be a color guard cam. My fantasy is that there would be three video versions on the DCI dvd. High cam, regular and color guard cam !
  9. I checked it out, it definitely gave me the creeps. Seems to me life requires equal doses of positivity and realism.
  10. Agreed. I loved having so much access. $150 for a year of all these incredible shows is completely worth it. The main down side is that I didn’t want to leave the house this summer, just wanted to watch drum corps. The other problem is that I now need a much bigger viewing system...hoping for some good sales during the holidays.
  11. My two highlight crowd moments: The SCV encore was extreme bliss. The crowd that remained were all who were completely smitten with the show and we were banded together in nirvana. That moment was truly a highlight of my life. Crazy magical when they performed send in the clowns afterwards... The other awesome moment was Thursday night Cadets; the crowd leapt to their feet during the zipper at the end in pure happiness. My personal thrills were the color guard performance of Boston Crusaders and the leg gal of Phantom Regiment. Have I mentioned yet just how GREAT great great this year was? Every corps was just awesome....I am still high from three days of awesomeness.
  12. Just a quick post to say how much I enjoyed the Scouts show this year. It was pure pleasure to listen to and watch. I LOVED the soloist and her interactions with the rest of the band. The colorguard was phenomenal. Wow!! Sorry the rest of ya’ll are unhappy but many people really enjoyed the show....
  13. SCV then, not in order: Crossmen Cadets Crown Troopers Cavaliers Crusaders Scouts Phantom Open class overall was just wonderful, so many shows in open class are awesome, the music is less harsh, the shows are fun, very inspirational. This year every show really seemed to have a special dazzle, it was a true honor and pleasure to be able to enjoy the experience.
  14. The SCV band choreography was unbelievably fantastic, the color guard choreography was a bit more discordant than I tend to like. The performance by the dancers of course, was excellent. I don’t know if a video exists of the colorguard routine for Boston Crusaders, especially at their main prop site, I think it was a compass.. All the dancers and the choreography were brilliant. Well deserved best color guard award.
  15. Historic show, peak experience. The SCV show was unbelievable. I truly wish they had done more with the color guard choreography, Boston Crusaders KILLED that aspect. Any chance they made a documentary about it? I want more.....
  16. The Crossman show is absolutely stunning! Great work everyone!!!
  17. Btw, many folks in my section were waiting to hear where other folks were going to yell it. The energy is there..
  18. Absolutely needs the yell from the entire crowd.
  19. Love the vocalists!!! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful (all of them.) Was so bummed last year by all the electronic failures with the vocalists at LOS. Really hope this year is better....
  20. I REALLY love this show. The SCV show is the main reason why I am going to Indianapolis this year. Saw it live in June and since then the videos have been making me mad with wanting to see it again live. The energy is phenomenal and yes, I have watched a video over 50 times and am still finding new things in the performance. I really hope the videographers in Indy can catch most of it. I don’t know if it is “innovative”, but is it certainly distinctive and a not to be missed production. And I LOVE the uniforms, they look phenomenal on the field. That being said, it seems to me that so many of the other corps have REALLY wonderful shows this year. A very good year for drum corp....imho.
  21. I saw the broadcast. My general opinions: He said something stupid. She did a great job of calling him out in the moment. I like the FLO commentators. Yes, it’s a bit unpolished, but it will get better as time goes on. Keep up the good work FLO. I am sorry the guy lost the gig. Personally I would have liked it better if he had given an apology on air on the next show and everyone moved on. Even better if they turned the whole thing into something humorous. Glad he apologized via other means, the word defiant twice in the letter does make me wonder about the apology. (Shout out Harry Schearers Apologies of the week.) We all stay stupid stupid stupid stuff all the time. I am not a fan of all the internet shaming that goes on for dumb stuff people do. I am only grateful that I have not been recorded and broadcast every time I have said something idiotic in anger, frustration or exhaustion, etc
