Whatever. Seems like some on here want barriers up for SCV return....for whatever reasons but they are competing whether some like it or not.

Everyone is typing these long response. Why? SCV is competing in 2024.

Corps That Have Moved and Why?
DFA1970 replied to Keith Hall's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I think the topic is a "relocation". Cadets moving from NJ to PA is not huge. Crossmen moving from PA to Tx is a relocation. But they are the only ones that have ever done a big cross country relocation. So again is this worth of a discussion because it's not. -
Corps That Have Moved and Why?

No others and kind not worthy of a discussion. -
I guess the Broken Arrow Show is the first battle of the tops. Mandarins are in and SCV is out. Obviously based on placement from the previous year.

Blue Devils 2024 right before the storm
DFA1970 replied to theonlyfizzle's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
It's been 30 years since 1994 Blue Devils My Spanish Heart show and I always thought a new version would be cool. 1994 was a kinda re-birth of the Blue Devils with a new sleek look and new captions heads that are still on the staff. -
Blue Devils 2024 right before the storm

The crickets make more noise than BD staff changes. -
It's called a resume or CV filler. Even if these "instructors" do a day or two they can say....I instructed the world renown SCV corp and their percussion unit. Then they can legit say that on their resume maybe for a band directorship or university music department whatever.

Drums Along The Waterfront

That's true. With fuel costs and it seems now early July start dates even out west I don't see a tour to the Pacific Northwest. -
Why is Jersey Surf even still a world class corps?
DFA1970 replied to Mariana's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Who cares what corps are in what division....as long as they are competing. We can't be critical these days. Well...that's my opinion. -
Not sure what you are suggesting but have no separate (World, Open, All-Age) division and all compete at the same level? If that is the case then DCI would have to get rid of age restrictions to allow All-Age corps. Nah.....

I agree. GoFundMe is meant to raise money for emergency situations like funeral expenses from a sudden death or medical bills ect. Not as a form of fundraising. That you can donate directly to the corp. Lots of scams using GoFundMe so I would never do this for drumcorp.

They are not dead....yet. Just resting for 2023 and 2024.

Cadets Suspend for 2024

I hope 5th place is not cursed. -
Predictions until the season starts are all a wish list. That's why the only time BD is 3rd and 4th is on these lists. Then reality sets in.

I was on From the Pressbox over the weekend looking up some old scores from the early 70's and I noticed a corp call The Thing. So I had to look that up and I guess it was two corps that merged and they could not decide on a new name so a temporary name would be The Thing. You learn something once in awhile.
-
Actually I agree with you. A new fresh perspective is a good thing. At least I hope.

I think that Dan A pretty much made the new director’s job easy. It’s maintaining what he did over his tenure. New headquarters and permanent finals week home.

Interesting no drumcorp experience.

The Competitive power of past champions
DFA1970 replied to Bob984's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
2005...The Dance Derby of the Century. It really sticks out like a sore thumb. 1994 top 3 BUT 2005. Top 2 since 2007. I really think 2005 was more of the European tour thing than placements. But still managed for a 4th place finish. -
