  1. Some of the corps still have some past merchandise available. But not much. I use to get old t-shirts in their $5 tubs on tour.
  2. then the dotted-eight sixteen piano riff walking it down...
  3. I swear, every time I see ABBD on here I see ABBA which triggers the "Dancing Queen" ear worm.
  4. I'm pretty sure it was. He even "turned or bent the pitch" as only a harmonica player can do (not a keyboard pitch controller) on the very end of the solo. I guess he was saving that effect for finals? Or he he did it earlier, I didn't notice it till finals. It was so good live. Would be a great podcast for the Troop social media.
  5. They need a show next year that he can "let the fro flo"? Kind of like Troopers & the front ensemble of BAC!
  6. He was definitely playing the solo. The harmonica is probably on a wireless mic that triggers the synth thru "midi". (Several YouTube videos describing this process with a harmonica.) Same process that has been used for numerous other corps using snare drums, brass instruments, & the green bass drums used by BK this season for added effect. I'm sure the cello was the same set up. You can use the natural sound of the instrument plus layer other sound & effects on top of the natural sound. Edit: I think of the "Blues Travelers" guy. He plays his harmonica thru a mic that triggers special effects & maybe even a synth thru midi?
  7. Absolutely! I forgot Take Me to the Church. Such an enjoyable show musically. Love “lyrical” music on the field. From row 4 in the blast zone, the crowd was going insane for the Mandarin’s production. Felt like I was at a Taylor Swift concert! 😂 You probably mentioned this somewhere, but your son plays contra?
  8. Agree; it was beautiful & loved the Paul Lovatt-Cooper piece! Also loved Crown's Wagner. And Phantom. And Troop. And BD. And BS. And... it was a great season for ballads.
  9. I would like to request more Paul Lovatt-Cooper like Vitea Aeternum. Or just repeat Vitea Aeternum!
  10. You could wear the orange version when you go hunting. 😂
  11. Yup; they have a couple of audience mics but probably not mixed well. I didn’t really like 2-3 shows on Flo until I saw them live. And oh course it’s much better live & easier to read. Some amazing performances in Indy.
  12. In addition to the postseason blues, I got the COVID. I was there for a week so probably those GEN COM folks in my hotel on Sunday & Monday. 😂 The local news stated there were 70k+ attendees at the game convention. Anyone else experiencing symptoms? Boo COVID!
  13. I'm sending you a screenshot of your post that you were signing off & going to work. (sorry) 😁
  14. As @Chief Guns stated, college & pro football. @craiga, Since semi-retiring, no more HS band responsibilities; just some less stressful school duties. But the withdrawal is real. I'm ready to go back to Indy!
  15. No questions for you. After reading your post over the last couple of weeks, just wanted you to know my experience as a former drum corps staff member & semi-retired band director with a business background. I'm sure I'm not the only one & I'm sure there are some folks that haven't a clue to what's going on except their ridiculous social media posts. Who is currently leading the organization & who is in charge of writing their social media post? As a volunteer, I hope & pray this ends well for you as well as the organization. But I just don't think it feasible for their return to tour in completion in the 2024 season. Hope I'm wrong...
  16. First of all, I want nothing but success for SCV. Loved the corps since my first experience in '79 in Birmingham on a HS band trip. (Thank you to my high band director) But I'm directing this @DSpruce: I was going to make a monetary donation earlier this year in honor of my fraternity brothers who march SCV in the 80s. Then all of this info came to light. One example, I signed up for their newsletter. Sometime in the Spring, they stated on Facebook that all debts had been paid off. That post wasn't a true statement. Then in their next to most recent newsletter, they stated that all debt had been paid in full except for some COVID funding that they were seeking forgiveness. I just don't think they've been totally honest in their public statements. Also, stating they would have a CEO in place by mid to late March? Six months later, no now has filled the position. Red flag? Their entire PR campaign has been a disaster.
  17. After I googled it earlier in the season, I'm still getting ads for them on the FB. Smaller version of course.
  18. Well hell, we're all old so a 5am start would be perfect! I usually wake up around 3-4am anyway...
  19. Speaking of Dan, there was a sweet moment early before semis or finals, (I forget which night; probably finals), that he & his family were on the field taking some pictures. He took his grandchildren to the Colts logo at midfield to take some extra pictures. It was really a very sweet & cool moment. 💙
