  1. Cavies 1992 Peterloo push, before the crazy flags Cadets 1987 (duh) 27th lots of years Danny Boy Cadets 2000 Dunno if Phantom 1996 counts, with the resolving chord Cadets 1995 Far and Away push, with the flag Iwo Jima thing
  2. I loved what I heard at the Benson standstill. Intense stuff!
  3. Other than asthetic issues with the color choices (which DO fit the theme I guess), I don't really see how this is all that 'out there' or freak-tastic. Backdrops aren't new to drum corps, neither are oddly-colored guard uniforms, so that really just leaves the pattern on the back of the corps-proper jacket and perhaps the pink benches. In any case, why should color be provided ONLY by flag silks? Still, my that's a lot of freaky pastels...
  4. Just based on reviews so far, it seems we might see Cadets, Spirit, SCV, and maybe Crown will be moving up, while perhaps Phantom, Bluecoats, and maybe Madison to stall?
  5. Regarding whether or not George would change his mind if the members said they didn't like all this stuff...wasn't the 05 show a result of members saying they wanted to go back to the old, cutting-edge Cadets? Of course, whether or not 05 was cutting-edge is a matter of opinion I suppose, but compared to at least the previous few years, the intensity and marching-playing your booty off WAS back. So, in that respect I think George would respond to massive objections from the members. Besides, I realize that compared to complains about previous years (pledge and 9/11 in 02, baton twirler in 04, and various smaller complaints about flow and music in 03 and 01) that amps are definitely a bigger sour point for people, but it does seem that the disgruntled masses wouldn't be truly happy with the Cadets unless they did a show like...gosh what was their last truly made-everyone-happy show...00 maybe, probably 1993?
  6. Yep, that's it. In Benson 2 nights ago, they also played 'Bring Him Home' from Les Mis (and from their 1989 show)...I think that's the only additional one they played. Last year when Columbia SC was rained out, I remember hearing Moondance and a great comical piece based on William Tell. Good stuff. Crown also did some crowd pleasing encore material the other night...Bohemian Rhapsody, Gloria Estefan's Get On Your Feet, and the theme song from Friends, and a piece from O Brother Where Art Thou.
  7. I thought the show website said the show was over at 1030 central time, so it may be a while yet.
  8. Thanks both for the reviews! We're gonna be watching SCV take on BD for the next week, will be interesting to see if SCV can gain any ground.

  11. I just emailed you about the 4 I have for sale... see http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums//ind...showtopic=80455
  12. Section GG, just left of the 50 in the upper deck, row 22. I bought 7 premium tickets right when they went on sale (so they should be great), but I need to sell 4 of them. Every year I seem to buy more tickets than I apparently have drum corps fan friends! I'm willing to sell each individually or all 4 of them if you want! Face value -- $75 each. Would love doing business with you and meeting you at finals! Cheers, Chris
  13. Nah, I don't buy into the 'pick a style and stick to it'. 'Style' is something pretty loosely defined anyway, but I know I don't want to hear a particular corps do straight jazz every year, or Americana, or Latin, or Broadway...
  14. It seems to me it's the change in judging that has contributed most to the direction of the activity in the last 20ish years. It came right when Garfield was trying to push things, and the change seems to me to have opened the flood gates.
  15. Benson, NC...June 25th (1 month) Cadets, BAC, Crown, CR, Magic, Teal Sound, Carolina Gold Sr.
  16. No, I doubt that one toss made a tenth of a difference in any judge's mind.
  17. I think it's a rather unexciting clip, but I still don't get anyone complaining about hornline quality from ANY corps at this point in the season. Except for your opinion on trumpet SOUND, when was the last time the cadets' hornline wasn't one of the best on the field come finals night...
  18. No idea, but Star did win without outright winning any caption...tied for 3 I believe (brass, percussion, and...)
  19. Well, is the SCV 02 (Sound Shape and Color I believe) concept really any different than Cavies 03 (Spin Cycle)? Is SCV 03 (Pathways) really different than Cavies 01 (Four Corners) or Bluecoats 03 (Capture and Escape)? We all know there was something different about Cavies 00ish-03 or -04ish, but on paper I don't think they are, so it probably isn't fair to say that they were the FIRST to bring a COMPLETE show.
  20. Two very different shows, each with their own gimmicks (Cadets with more), each with their own strengths (some spectacular) and weaknesses, each existing in years with a fairly weak top group of corps. I don't buy the trashing of The Cadets for their guard integration (to me, it seemed as if the guard acted as a counterbalance against the corps proper), just as I don't buy that The Cavies were emotionless. The drumspeak worked for me, as did the 'fight club' scene. I could have done without the Bjork-speak, just as I could have done without the counting and valve sounds.
