  1. Not sure who you are, or what your problem is, but it would be nice if you stopped being so negative about PR. I understand something happened that has you upset about the way the organization is being run, but getting on here and bashing the organization constantly is not helping.
  2. I think the judges do an outstanding job of using the sheets given to evaluate the corps performance. I know it sounds like a cop out, but after seeing the shows in the theater (which I know pales in comparison to live), I think they got it right.
  3. I'm 52, saw first show in 1971, marched 1972 - 1982, first finals in 1973, taught 1993, 1999 - 2000, and have been a huge fan forever. Love it all, from records I heard dating back to 1961 through last night.
  4. After hearing them in the theater Thursday night, I can say that it was the best brass sound I have heard in 42 years. Sick that I didn't get a chance to hear them live.
  5. Thanks you for your service, and I feel the same way! If not for the men mentioned specifically, Regiment probably would have folded after the 97' season. I too consider it an honor and a privilege to have had the opportunity to be a part of this fine organization.
  6. That might be the coolest reply I've ever seen. Sweet!
  7. Growing up in the Flying Dutchmen from Quincy, IL., I was a big fan of the Precisionaires. Saw them many times, and marveled at how clean they were. Small group, but very precise. Missed making finals in 75 by less than a point. (corps reps) Too bad they only lasted for 8 seasons.
  8. This is very sad to hear. A fellow Illinois Drum Corps guy. He was always a bright spot with his posts on this site. He will be missed.
  9. I think last night might have been an anomaly. Not sure what JJ saw or heard, but I'm sure he felt justified in the numbers he put up. Let's see what happens Monday and Tuesday. I'm very hopeful that Shane, Matt, and the rest of the drum staff will fix the issues before next week. I also think that Shane should stay on as caption head. He faced the unenviable task of having to completely start over at PR. Not one person stayed from the 2010 line. I think he has done a great job of trying to rebuild, with being labeled unfairly as an "indoor guy". SUTA!
  10. Regiment percussion down 2 points to CC. That's 1 full point towards score. Very low score. Can they get that up? It's really starting to hurt.
  11. 1971, Illinois State Fair on the horse track. Saw the Black Knights and fell in love. "Impossible Dream", wow, what a soprano solo. Then Cavaliers came on doing the clown show and I was hooked. Told my parents that's what I wanted to do for the rest on my life. My dad said that's good, because we have a drum corps in our hometown. 5 months later he convinced my mom to let me join. 41 years later, I'm still loving it and still doing it as a band director. Changed my life.
  12. I too was turned on to Drum Corps at the Illinois State Fair. My parents took us there in '71. My dad had marched back in the late '40's and '50's. He knew there was a show going on and took us in. I was in awe and hooked at first sight of the Skokie Imperials and it got better from there. Saw the Cavs clown show, the Belleville Black Knights playing the "Impossible Dream" and wearing chrome domes, my first viewing of Phantom Regiment and the Des Plaines Vanguard. I went to my first camp in my hometown with a corps called the Flying Dutchmen in January of '72, playing a a couple of shows at the the old horse track a few years later, then aged out of Phantom in '82. Spent the years since as a fan and a few on staff. I miss it terribly, but I had to move on. Still a huge fan, keeping up on here and the Fan Network. LONG LIVE DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS!
  13. Was that in '84. Seems I remember that. I think one guy broke his leg real bad as I recall.
  14. That's what I thought. That was my first show. Held at the Illinois State Fair on the horse track. Cavs and Black Knights blew me away. Joined the Flying Dutchmen from Quincy IL. the next January
  15. It means nothing to those who have not contributed to the organization and everything to those that have. Good Luck in '10 PR. SUTA!
  16. Way to go Scouts! These past two moves have been huge. Way to go and good luck!
