No Bloo at Soaring Sounds this year? -
This one is from my rookie season at Bluecoats in 2006 during a morning visual block in Mason, Ohio (sometime in July maybe). This wasn't my horn but I watched the whole thing happen as the rep ended... what a train wreck! Basically one guy fell on a difficult move (on a "field" that wasn't meant to be marched on) and the other guy, a 6'5 200+ lb kid, fell on top of him and his horn. No one was seriously injured but the horn did not have such luck

I'm glad I'm not the only one that heard through the grapevine about "The Iron Stable"... truly some potential there. Word on the street also is that inspiration for the show came from the corps personal experience while housing in Jersey last summer... crazy and intense stuff for sure -

Crown, Phantom, or Vanguard?

That would make this poll all the more interesting! And perhaps prove a point? -
Which of these fan favorites as of late is YOUR favorite? Use whatever criteria you want. Go!

Bluecoats writing was incredibly interesting, i thought.

SCV 04 drum feature and the mixing thing in the drill with the snares and tenors... seriously think about all the corps that wrote drill for their drum breaks like that afterwards... almost everyone started doing it

BD 08 (possibly should've been 1st, but the same could be said for Samurai.. the top 3 in 08 could've flip flopped any given night i think, all championship caliber shows) BD 04- best hornline this decade SCV 2000- incredible, intense, beautiful, and really cool drill. Phantom 2009 hahaha.... what.. too soon?

sounds pretty sweet

Blue Devils, Crown, and the Cavaliers neared perfection. Clear identity with a classic, suave design. Glassmen looked great too, a fresh and attractive new look. Cadets always look great, but something about the plumes bother me... I like the taller and straighter plumes for some reason. SCV was much better than last year, but nothing will come close to the 04 look. Bluecoats and Crusaders have clean, good-looking unis this year as well. Phantom....gross

Best Silver Medalist...

Gonna go out on a limb with some stuff... here goes: Cadets 07 (got my vote, should have won that year) blow all these 2nd place shows out of the water, with the exception of BD 08 (should have won also) and BD 04 (im glad im not the only one who thinks this was the best hornline of the decade) More unpopular opinions: Phantom 06 should have placed behind The Godfather show at finals, and would have had the Devs brass not had a down year. Crown 09 did not deserve 1st, and also should've and would've placed 3rd had the Cadets drums not gotten scored so low. Props to CC though on marching way more challenging (and effective?) drill than Devils, I just thought the execution didnt match up with the vision. Horns were money though... deserved the trophy. Final thought: Cavaliers have had by far the most effective shows this decade. Watching Samurai, Machine, or Frameworks is like a clinic on championship show design perfection (yes Samurai had a championship show design, top 3 was too strong that year). Integration of theme, drill, guard, and music is quite frankly unmatched -
Weird Fan Shouts During Performances
corpsnewbie replied to kaseyW's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Haha that was Mike Mccintosh yelling "omg". I've got one. At the end of the Cavaliers 04 ballad, you can hear a lead trumpet hold over the ensemble, then right after that you can hear a very audible "NO!!", or something similar, from someone in the audience. Rumor has it that was their brass caption head Bertman yelling that, which is quite humorous (at least to me, I laugh everytime). Does anyone know if there's any truth to the rumor? -
