They use to field a lot smaller corps. I know BDB fielded a full 150 the past couple of years. SCVC was close to that. Was there a limit like 90 members back then? Yeah I remember in 2007 in Pasadena. Both corps were good but didn't medal. I think they were 4th and 5th or something like that. Then all of a sudden their dominance in Open started in 2008. I also believe they did not tour to DCI Championships every year back then.

Future of Open Class..does anyone other than BDB or SC Cadets have any chance at winning Open in the future. Both of these corps will never move to World Class status. Where does this leave the other open class corps? Since 2008... 2008 SC Cadets 2009 BDB 2010 BDB 2011 BDB 2012 Ore. Crusaders 2013 SC Cadets 2014 BDB 2015 SC Cadets 2016 BDB 2017 SC Cadets The lone non BD and SCV winner is OC who is now in World Class.

Another example is Blooo. Sliding down ramps does not indicate to me any marching.

Semis use to be the top 17 making it. Kinda glad they extended this to 25. Good for the activity and performers for their last performance of the year.

Yeah...it's good for SCV. This is the first time since 1999 that they have been a serious contender. Yes life is finally good for SCV.

Thanks for the his historical perspective. I didn't know Tom Float was the percussion head for you guys . Him and Katherine went on to BD in the 80's and I think took 4 straight drum titles.

Kind of confusing. So SCV past WGI World Class guard staff is or is not part of the SCV guard staff during the summer?

I think the huge staff investment has finally paid off. Getting well known designers and instructors and no staff leaving and going and now we see the payoff. Even if they take Silver this is a big step forward.

The one thing Cadets win Gold at 953 pages so far. By a mile. The Silver is Boston at 422 and Bronze is Crown at 308. Unfortunately (or not) BD is at 205. And rounding out the top 5 is Blooo at 176.

We just need time to breath before talking about 2018.

Wow. Hope you weren't up all night doing these figures. Question....can an open class corp displace a world class corp for finals? I know they can compete in quarters and semis but what about finals?

I get it but it just comes across has a bit elitist. The "not in the same league" then adding SOA. BS and the rest makes it sound like BAC is in the top tier and the rest are just...well..... crumbs.
