  1. Hello! A friend of mine and myself will be volunteering with one of the World Class corps for the next 2 weeks, and would like to sit and enjoy all of the corps in San Antonio. Does anyone have some spectcular seats that they are trying to sell tickets for? Name your price! Thanks cp
  2. Phantom 96 BK 99 BK 2000 SCV 2004 With honorable mentions going to the 1997 Colts for their skin tight yellow leather uniforms for a Blood Sweat and Tears show.
  3. While he was quoted, I don't think that Hop was the author of the email....if I remember right, the email was sent from the CFO of YEA, Marie. I do not blame the OP for posting this. Sombody would have anyway. We aired dirty laundry when PR asked for more money, when the Troop went belly up for a year, and when your mom did whatever.......that is just the way we are. My response to the email when i received it was "I give you a big, fat, 2007 quarter-finals-marching-off-the-field-cause-there-were-no-hash-marks BOOOOOOO for calling out the name of the person who quit in a mass email. VERY unprofessional. Good luck filling the position" Sure my grammar sucks. But I am not asking the Cadets for donations every year. And I personally have a lot of respect for YEA. I am not saying they should be held to the same standard as AIG or GM is being held to now, but with that email being sent to donors who are tightening their bands on their discretionary income---there has to be SOME form of restraint before this email was sent out. Maybe they could hire that working professional Sara, that starred in the 2008 show..... she seems to be on top of it all and I think she is actually retired from her previous job......
  4. With the power vested in me by the Federation, I hereby pronounce the Blue Knights as the only corps that has enough dark brass sound and enough fortitude to boldly go where only they have gone before and pull off another Star Trek show. There is an identity for you. As long as Ralphie can come back and write a #####in drum solo.
  5. GREAT! And just another gentle reminder that I LOATHE Ticketmaster.
  6. Planning on checking out that San Antonio show in the air conditioning....can't find tix for sale on dci.org. Not up yet? whats going on?
  7. I am enjoying the wide screen, but i seriously love those percussion judge tapes!!! Watching it right along with the corps performance is awesome! Everyone has answered my questions.....'I think i made the right choice'.
  8. Just popped in the DVD's last night after waiting for them to get here UPS ground....snow storm.....took 10 days. Thats cool. ANYWAY, really was looking forward to hearing the commentary during some of the corps' shows--like Bluecoats and SCV (well not so much for SCV as they got pushed out of the top 6).... Also wanted to watch the percussion cam during Phantom's show....... and was looking forward to listening to the percussion judge as he ran all around the Cavaliers drum line. Nothing. Nothing. :worthy: Nothing. Did the price of the DVD's drop dramatically to cover for such a difference in the overall quality and package that they presented? According to my AMEX statement, no. Similar price. Less offerings. I am sure that there is a posting about this on here somewhere.....please guide me to where i can learn more about the reason why. And of all years to do it to me.
  9. I recently traveled with my nephew to visit some universities on the east coast that he is interested in. One of them being Maryland, we decided to check out a football game there. Though the weather was terrible for the game against NC State (Terps won by a field goal), I could not help but think that it must have been a PERFECT stadium for Drum Corps ( I didn't go to finals in 2000)! Granted the U of M marching band didn't prove it so well as they played toward the wrong side that you see in the background of all the DCI vids from 2000...... I loved the stadium. Even though DCI is in Indy for the next while....( i loved Bloomington as well) ....I think that it would be great if they held at least one event, not necessarily championships, in that stadium again. For those of you that were there, performing, spectating, or otherwise, please let me know your thoughts--pro or con. And then move finals back to Denver.
  10. You mean the Sundance Film Festival found in Utah?
  11. THough it is hard to find many videos of it....Colts 1997 Blood Sweat and Tears, OH baby....Freakin rocked my socks off!!! IT was so sexy....oh and the guard in what i remember was yellow leather? Refresh my memory please.....
  12. One One of the shirts that I really enjoyed seeing this last week was “MADISON. The other coast”
  13. I have actually always remembered the Cadets doing free form kinds of things during retreat, which i am sure was a lot more relaxing on their kids.... last night, they were off the field SO Quickly. It almost looked like they were pouting, taking their ball, and going home. I felt bad for the kids who may have wanted to go and congratulate their friends or school mates...... Finals retreat should be a celebration an And in terms of HILLARIOUS stuff going on last night, how about half of the cavaliers hornline falling over when the crowd erupted in hearing that BD was second place!!! That was absolutely hysterical!! And the Madison bass drum thing was cool....until they weren;t in step with each other after 20 steps.....
  14. So when bluecoats play the last line of the rocky theme and front it up to the front of the field, they dm cuts them off, and some dude about 30 rows up goes "ADRIAN!!!" i think more people should do it
  15. Should be fine...It is all about the bar code on the ticket.
  16. Not that it is everyone's favorite show of the season, but i thought the Blue Knights had some pretty creative drill moves. Namely in the opener, and the final block in the closer. Don't ask me what the #$@# the music is, but the visual action is pretty appetizing.
  17. I am unfortunately going to be unable to use the tix that were provided in the friends of DCI package for me. Are there any parents of an OPEN CLASS marching member out there who need some tix? let me know and I'll send them to you for shipping cost. no scalpers, please. cwillpayne@hotmail.com
  18. The Pursuit of HOPPINESS...doing whatever Hopp wants...... I admire that he can motivate many to become successful students and employees and all of that jazz...... But you can not tell a whole life story in an 11 minute time frame! Well i guess you can....but not with the all the drama it conveys. I felt bad when i found out it was about breast cancer and thought "what a novel idea" but the dialog just does not work for me...it is all over the place. And as an avid NPR listener......I don't know. I love Ira Glass and everything... but this doesn't seem to fit. But I may just be proven wrong when i hear it live. pursuit of hopps desires......just freakin play, drum, and spin and win a championship!! Move em back to Bergen County and drop the playwrite on the way. As i re-read the description i imagined that clip from SNL when Matt Foley the "motivational speaker" played by Chris Farley said to the father character "Am I seeing things pop?!? Is that Bill Shakespear over there?!?!?!" after David Spades character said that he wanted to be a writer....... looks like another year where i am left limp by one of my favorite corps, and i will need to rely on the drum corps viagra to brighten things up again. God bless the Blue pil---er Bluecoats. *SIGH*
  19. Really cool show. Absolutely loved it. Just pulled out the DVD to watch what i remember from 8 years ago...... and I would like to strangle the idiots who thought it was appropriate to yell all sorts of crap during the quiet part where they were singing in the ballad. Other than that, really cool emotional ballzy drum corps show---with a lot of diamond rotations.....
  20. I think that one more recent corps that was pretty small that worked their tails off to get into finals were the 1996 Blue Knights. I had the big finals retreat poster from that year from Zildjian "TOp Corps top scores top cymbals" and sure enough on the far end of the field is this little itty bitty corps with dots on their chest. Apparently moved 3 or 4 places finals week? Someone may be able to confirm that better than me....
