  1. Been a long time coming, and oh so much history over the dam. I remember being on that mosquito infested field during retreat the last time Blue Stars scored above Cadets. Congratulations!
  2. In recent times, top 12 corps coming out a week or two after everyone else is simply not true... and surely not true this year. Since their first show of the season this year is in Vista California, I guess I don't understand why they could have been out in California and participated in the earlier California shows as all the other top west coast corps did. A week in drum corps is an eternity .....especially when it comes to being able to simply stay put and polish your show.. Hmmmmm
  3. I would like to know how it is that the Blue Knights basically are the last top 12 corps to be on the road, have a competition, and about week more quality prep/practice time to get their show up and ready vs everyone else?
  4. I think Blue Knights may slip in the race for the 9th spot. Would not be surprised to see Cadets fall to the 10th position. Now, may the dog race continue, MUSH!
  5. Maybe it was a tabulation error, put his number in the wrong box, or was miss read by the one who entered it. it is an anomaly outlier score for sure
  6. in a competitive year where phantom may not make finals, (and the first time in decades the Blue Stars outscored Phantom on opening day) jealousy and sour grapes often show themselves. I suggest you look at all props being used this year by all the corps. Maybe phantom could learn something. I fear the viciousness (I hope I am wrong) will also start coming form the Cadets if or when Blue Stars leap them. It's very difficult when your corps has been on top for so many decades, to start seeing them slide. Blue Stars know this all to well from their history. Good luck to all, now may the dog race continue, MUSH!
  7. I could not agree more, but they actually were less than 2 points behind Cadets, only 1.650 behind to be precise. Many in the theater I was at thought Blue Stars should have beat them...heck several thought phantom should have beat them. I will take less than a 2 point gap for the first show any day. I believe it is just a matter of time before Blue Stars slowly but surly advance. May the dog sled quest for the 7 spot begin! MUSH!
  8. The reason they were tripping is because there was a dropped drum stick which several members were tripping over and trying to pick up!!! With this paced drill, any dropped equipment is an extremely dangerous hazard. Talk about safety of judges, what about the safety of the kids. when the judges were allowed to go on the field and judge, one of the things they often did is pick up dropped equipment. Now that they are relegated to the sidelines, dropped plumes, sticks etc... will just sit out there for the kids to trip over. Also, i am aware its a newly resurfaced field and several corps were complaining about it being sticky
  9. some of the horn players not shown in the video will have green and yellow on as well. The guard has some yellow as well
  10. Ok, here is a stab at it. Regardless of place, its most important that the kids have a great learning experience. At its deepest level, what matters in the end is not place, but the experience of the activity. All are truly winners!! (In pairings of 3 ie.. 1-3, 4-6 etc.. corps could be in any order in their paring in the end) Its going to be a very competitive summer!) 15. Academy 14. Colts 13. Spirit 12. Phantom 11. Crossmen 10. Blue Knights 9. Mandarins 8. Cadets 7. Blue Stars 6. Cavaliers 5. Bluecoats 4. Crown 3. BAC 2. BD 1. SCV
  11. so was the election of Donald Trump. Im sorry, but this statement is just so arrogant.
  12. How come you say it's very unlikely? Times are changing; the spell has finally been broken after all these years, NO ONE has a pre destine right to any position!
  13. Hopefully it didn't get rained out, there were storms in the area
  14. Now that's some chopping wood!!! The season is almost here, and a wise old owl informed me it will be a very good one at that!! whooooooo hoooo!!!😉
  15. Great music selections, should be interesting to see what segments of these pieces they select and how they weave them together. with an extremely veteran & old (age wise) corps this year along with staff stability, should be a good year. I cant wait to hear the horns. I am hearing good things about them. The corps is poised to make a push above the 8 slot.
  16. Blue Stars Blue Coats Blue Devils SCV Boston Cavies
  17. Good Buzz: Blue Stars, SCV, Mandarin, So So Buzz: Blue Devils, Blue Coats, Boston, Cadets, Spirit Bad Buzz: Madison, Phantom, Not much: All the rest
  18. I would not count out Blue Stars for a season ending push for 7th. Last week they reduced the gap between them and Cadets to basically 1 point. at one point this week within .9 (shaving .5-1.0 off this week alone) If Blue Stars continue on this trajectory and are within 1 point or less going into finals... much can happen. They have a lot of momentum right now. I agree with the rest of your predictions regarding BK, Phantom, Mandarins, Crossmen and Spirit
  19. They are slowly making progress on Cadets, closing the gap at Atlanta to under 2 points. Very in reach going into finals week. This on top of the massive closer changes in music and drill learned just a few days prior to Atlanta. Cant wait for closer part 2 to appear!!!! They have good momentum right now and are positioned to peak at just the right time.
  20. And there you go, That says it all, no need for further comment
