If the person in the photo is the person I think he is... then I will "jump" at the chance to answer your question and say yes, he was.

Of course, I could be completely off base here.

Not him, but I get why you'd think that - it's the black uni that the guy you're alluding to always wore (even I did a few times, but I never jumped, or even moved much)

I never saw him jump, but he did click a lot.

As for bell-bottoms, he only wore those in the US Navy, I believe

Not sure if he made the transition with the Hurcs from the black uni to the green/white combo ... his photog career really took off in 63 when he hooked up with DCN ...
