gmanbay41
It is with deep regret to inform all, that the Cadets have asked to withdraw from the Tournament of Stars show, which is to be held on June14th in Bayonne N.J. due to economy reasons. With the recent changes in our economy, they have decided to stay at home the first 4 days of their season, helping saving them 1/5 of their budget increase that they now have due to gas and food prices increasing. We fully understand their situation and have agreed to let them out of their commitment to the TOS and wish them the best for the 2008 season. We are hoping next year, we will be able to have them be part of the 2009 TOS. The Bridgemen are also looking forward to peforming at their show on July 5th in Clifton NJ. An official press release will be coming out about it this week. Our lineup is still a GREAT one with the following corps: Selden Cadets Alumni Corps of Selden, NY Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights Alumni Corps of Newark, NJ Park City Pride Alumni Corps of Bridgeport, CT Preston Scout House Alumni Corps of Canada Bushwackers All-Age Corps of Harrison, NJ Caballeros Alumni Corps of Hawthorne, NJ Jersey Surf Junior Corps of Berlin, NJ and your host, The Bridgemen Alumni Corps of Bayonne, NJ! RCFKING
That is the biggest bag of BS that I have heard in a long time. 1/5 of the budget increase. Where are they coming from and this is only 1 of 5 gigs that they are to travel to? WOW, ....It's not a recession its a small downturn. At least come up with a better explaination of the economic impact. 1/5 of 3.25% of BS
Kyle B
Really, you're the only one who believes that. If they stay where they are in Spring Training, they get to save all the gas money it would have cost to move 4 buses, 2 tractor trailors, SUV, Mini-van and a RV, both ways I might add. It may seem like a small trip, but for 9 vehicles, thats a lot of money when put together. That money saved can be used for future gas fill-ups and the increase in food prices they get from the wholesale companies.

LegalEagle50
WOW, ....It's not a recession its a small downturn. maybe not in your neck of the woods Randy, but it really is a recession out here in the N.E. not trying to turn this into the C.E. forum ~ just letting you know from the perspective of someone living out here it's not what you think it is. davla00
200 miles round trip from Allentown x 7 vehicles - 1400 miles total Avg gas guzzling bus mpg 3.5 - - 400 gallons of fuel (not decreasing it for the mini van, the rv, and George's old SUV) Avg price for diesel in Allentown area $4.80 = = $1920 Round up to $2K just to cover some other bs someone might not think of. According to Hops own website it is $1k to feed the corp for a day. Total $3K, without anything else in consideration. What were the Cadets going to get for the TOS appearance ? If it was more than $3K, then the back out is BS. If it was less than $3k, it wasn't. Pretty simple.

But then again, they would have to feed the troops regardless of where they park the vehicles, so a food allowance is out. It's too bad that the corps can't make the Bayonne show, but that's a decision they had to make BS or not. IF they decided to make the show and ended up having to close up shop before finals because they ran out of money it would really suck. FWIW, I'm not generally a fan of the Cadets, but I respect their decision and give them credit for making it early enough so the Bridgemen can plan accordingly.
