ShortAndFast
I thought Fan Network was great this year, well worth the $70. The live webcasts seemed to go smoothly this year, but the real win for me was the copious on-demand videos. I was only able to go to championships in person this year, but every Sunday morning I got up and watched the prior night's performances. I felt like I could really see how all the shows grew and developed over the summer, and I was very familiar with all the corps by the time I actually watched live. The archive of all finals videos since 1972 is also very cool. I did a lot of exploring of DCI shows from the '70s and '80s that I never got to see live. Several times this summer I read threads here discussing various shows, and it was great to have the actual performance only a mouse-click away. I wasn't really impressed with a lot of the Off The Field content, so that's one area where they could strive for some improvement. I'd love to see more footage of rehearsals. I thought the Cadets "living room cam" runthrough was one of the most interesting posts of the summer in that regard. I also would have liked to have the encores from more shows posted. Phantom, Crown and Cadets all have great encore sets and I would have liked to be able to listen to them separate from the live broadcasts. I'll definitely be buying next year's offering, whatever it turns out to be.

Chris Rohn
Some things I'd like to see, mentioned earlier worth repeating: 1. Higher video resolution for all streaming video. 2. Quarterfinalist and Semi-Finalist streaming video from all years. Even Div II/III/Open would be great, but start with semi's & quarters! 3. Choice between high camera or multi camera for all event replays - I wasn't able to watch a single live event this year, and I was really hoping to see more than blurry dots making forms on the screen when I watched the On Demand version. 4. DCIHasBeen's comment about having corps commentary between the shows on the live stream was a good one. 5. Provide a "DCI Radio" and "DCI TV" streaming option, where you can pick select years, or all years, or select shows, and have them all stream in a row so we can sit back with a bowl of popcorn and not have to click a new show every 12 minutes. XxDrumCorpsFanxX
I have a question about the Fan Network. Before the FN when you were a subscriber, you were able to listen to the audio files before you purchased them. Is there a way to do this on the FN? Thanks

DCIHasBeen
I was on Fan Network last night. Apparently they've pulled the videos of 2007 Championships as well as 2008 Quarterfinals. WTF? Do they think this is going to hurt DVD sales in anyway? I'm about ready to plunk down for this season's DVDs and CDs (for the first time since 1989, I might add), and don't see why a access to a high-camera, highly compressed, video stream would be viewed by anyone as an alternative to the DVDs. Is this just paranoia on DCI's part, or is there a legitimate business reason for this? DCI doesn't specify specific content to be provided, so they basically don't have a service level they are required to maintain, but I think this is going a bit too far. Someone I suggested I send Dan A. an email to inquire, but since those mails tend to go unanswered by Dan, or any of his staff, I thought I'd ask here and see if someone had any knowledge of the reasoning here. Patrick McNeal
I was on Fan Network last night. Apparently they've pulled the videos of 2007 Championships as well as 2008 Quarterfinals. I don't recall ever seeing the 2007 Championships videos. 2006 was the last year they had available, as far as I know. And yes, I'm sure it was to keep from undermining their DVD sales. As time passes, there is less demand for the older DVDs because everyone wants the newest ones.
