I have no idea who will place where at the end of the year, but based on Fan Network videos, I predict the Cavaliers will come out as the corps to beat. Based on seeing both Madison and the Blue Stars practice this week, I believe the Blue Stars will place above the Scouts (by the way, both corps are considerably better than last year at this time).

1. Cavaliers- Samurai seems so cool. When the Cavies can focus an entire show on an interesting idea, good things happen for them.

2. Blue Devils- A great show concept; I'm sure the defending champions will push the envelope.

3. Phantom Regiment- PR has stolen medals from the "Big Three" in 05 and 06; I think this will be the best Spartacus yet.

4. Santa Clara Vanguard- Another cool concept and a strong corps. The new additions to the staff will make a difference.

5. The Cadets- Great corps, but I feel the "commitment to storytelling" will hold them back... again.

6. Bluecoats- Welcome back to DCI, Mr. Conti- we've missed you!

7. Carolina Crown- This corps has gotten better every year for about half a decade, but the competition is just top-notch.

8. Blue Knights- Nobody does dark better

9. Boston Crusaders- Underrated corps that would place higher in years that aren't as stacked

10. Madison Scouts- Hopefully they can keep this show

11. Glassmen

12. The Academy

13. Colts

14. Crossmen

15. Spirit from JSU

16. Blue Stars

Spots 10-16 were the hardest to decide. The rebirth of the Crossmen and Madison Scouts make things tricky. How long before both of these corps are perennial finalists again? Will they be perennial finalists again? The Academy is the young hot-shot corps, but they will have to knock out an "old-reliable" like Spirit to get into finals. I think the race for the last spots of finals will be just as interesting and exciting as the chase for the title.

1. Cavaliers- Its an even year in the 2000's. Got to go with them.

2. Cadets- Come close, yet again.

3. BD- Dominate early season. Get knocked off at Allentown.

4. SCV- Continue to get better. Still issues with show design.

5. Crown- I think I can, I think I can.....

6. Phantom Regiment- Clean drums. Rest of the corps leaves much to be desired for everybody but the hard-core phans.

7. Bluecoats- The next corps to win in 2006 plateaus. Maybe falls off a bit.

8. Boston Crusaders- Doing what they do best. Finishing 7th-9th.

9. The Academy- this may be a bold prediction, but they've definatly got what it takes.

10. Colts- End up here after a season-long battle with Academy.

11. Blue Knights- Same old BK. Boring. Mediocre.

12. Glassmen- Clings to 12th place. Barely hold off Blue Stars.

13. Blue Stars- Another year. Another missed finals for Blue Stars. Just not living up to the hype.

14. Crossmen- Many solid steps in the right direction.

15. Madison Scouts- Tons of overhype. Madison settles into their new role; a middle of the road semifinalist corps.

16. Spirit- have fallen far.

17. Pacific Crest- Has there ever been a more non-descript corps in DCI? I can't even remember what their unis look like.

18. Troopers- Reality sets in. We're the same corps now that we were 3 years ago.

19. Pioneer- Just so Pioneer.

20. Mandarins- The Mandarins participate in the 2008 drum corps season. Nobody but them seems to notice.

Here's to tomorrow night!

You guys aren't giving enough credit to the Bluecoats. They've been working hard all spring training, the drumline is smoking, the guard is absolutely focused and the brass......WOW! So put them up there at 4th and 3rd...where they belong.

They've been working hard all spring training,

O rly?

I heard they'd taken a week off in the bahamas when the rest of the WC corps did. I'm completely adjusting my placement now, thanks!

Seriously.. these mean nothing.
