A retro bad arse West Side Story show and no lip flapping would help erase a lot of the negativity some of us have been feeling about the Holy Name Cadets for the last few years........

Do you know how many years Hopkins has been associated with the cadets? I will go out on a limb here and say it is longer than you have known about DCI. Just saying...

Holy Name Cadets to return in 2009

Thursday, July 31, 2008

By: Caryn Goebel

75th Anniversary celebration includes name change

In recognition of the Cadets' 75th Anniversary next year, George Hopkins,

Director of the Cadets and the CEO of Youth Education in the Arts, announces

that for the 2009 season, the Cadets Drum Corps will perform as the "Holy Name

Cadets."

“The Cadets are very much aware of their heritage and of the greatness the

corps has provided young people for decades and decades. In marching as Holy

Name, we hope to give praise and recognition not just to the members of the

Cadets through 1957, but to the Garfield Cadets, the Cadets of Bergen County,

and today's Cadets," said Hopkins in making the announcement.

The exciting news comes exactly one year in advance of when the Cadets will hold

their 75th Anniversary celebrations in New Jersey, The weekend of July 31

through Aug. 2, 2009.

ok...just when I am all up in Hoppy's grill about the show this year and how he should retire and stuff....he goes and does this.

way to go George. Nice and very smart move.
