rodicus
Star of Indiana, 1993. We drew the ever popular children's toy, the scalene triangle. Yeah. Let's make a show out of THAT.
silvertrombone
Now THAT'S the spirit...Keep it coming. And speaking of Spirit, I believe they got the worst Prop Bag draw of all time in 1992 when the guard members all had to wear DD falsies. I saw them during a windy performance, and there were boobs flying all over the field. My first DCI show as a member was Clearwater, FL where my SkyRyders were treated to...SPIRIT!! Took us half of the season to collect ourselves and beat them. Just...wow! Best Prop Bag item of all time. BD 1992 - A bunch of dice.I guess VK always picked last. They always had some wacky props. Wow...7 posts in 6 years! Glad to meet you, fellow player of the bone! Fall of 91, talk about the bag being a clown car.Dice, Propellers, Giant Patrotic Facade, Cannon, Mystery Pack Sampler: (Godzilla, Fake Hair & Boobs, Shark, Bicycle, Portrait of Lenin, DCI Judge, Energizer Bunny, etc) I have a theory about that...I think VK just rolled out all of their previous Grab Bag selections from previous years. Or maybe, they pulled out serious stuff in previous years and decided not to use them. "We have to use a top hat???" Of course, if they pulled out a pair of Chuck Connors All Stars one year... I can't imagine the shock of Carolina Crown drawing a horse out of the bag in 2006.But I wouldn't have minded pulling out Scheherazade if I was SCV in 2004. (EDITED for wrong show year for crown, whoops. The years just blur together) Wait... I'm pretty sure VK just grabbed the entire bag and ran away cackling wildly. Are you kidding? VK always BROUGHT the bag! That's why it's been so BORING around here lately! Welcome back, Clown Princes of Fun!! After BD pulled the severed horse's head out in '05, CC's 06 pull was rather lame. ...Beat me to it! Originally my fault for screwing this up, last page. I caused a chain reaction.BD pulled out the horse head, Crown got what was left of it. OMG...LOL!! BD drew red bras for 94 and BD drew a Skull for 95 And such a nice, well-performed red bra it was! Question: What did Star draw in Sept 92 that caused them to choose to walk away? IIRC, they had already announced their decision to leave by Sept 93..i.e., before the 94 season Grab Bag selections. Makes you wonder what cream unis and red bras would look like, huh?
rodicus
Question: What did Star draw in Sept 92 that caused them to choose to walk away? A doorbell and a flaming bag of poop. edited for improper punctuation. ####, I forgot to capitalize the "e." silvertrombone
Grab Bag items that need to be retired... Cannon...or at least passed on to a different corps? ($1 to 08 Crown!) Violin...SCV. Whatever causes Cadets to keep doing WSS...and the blasted mic's! Couches. Couches are for potatos. Grab Bag items that need to be recycled or used by a different corps... Horse...I still don't think we got enough...anyone else? Sword...working well for Spartacus...perhaps a Gladiator or King Arthur show? Picture Frame...worked for Cavies...Boston off by a step Door...Monsters, Inc, anyone?
corpsreps
It can get rough when you draw the same thing three years in a row Crossmen 2005 - a Car - Let's do a road show Crossmen 2006 - a Car - Let's get stuck in traffic Crossmen 2007 - a Car - Let's drive to San Antonio (and stay there)
silvertrombone
You know, the more I think about this the more I think we could have a really great time with it. Say, stage a 'mock' grab bag drawing? Tape it and youtube it? A little bit of a challenge to the activity. Here's what I was thinking... A random sampling of about 60 items in a backpack, dressed up characters "selecting" for each corps. For Cavies, their logo guy, whatever his name is. For Cadets, a Hop look alike, or perhaps what's her name from the 05 show? Whatever. Every corps has a "representative" selecting an item. Video it, document it, then issue the challenge. Perhaps not good for 2009 since many corps have already selected their programs. But 2010...this gives them plenty of time to select an appropriate show theme. Challenge every corps to select a show based on their "item." What say you, fellow DCP'ers? Want to shake up the DC activity in a fun manner? Geez, we could even sell T-shirts!! silvertrombone
Oh, and VK gets everything not selected by other corps! Welcome back, Godzilla!!
troon8
Oh, and the Blue Knights repeatedly seem to draw variations on a swirling vortex of darkness and a full suit of medieval armor. Evil karma, it seems...
