Oh I liked it too, I was just reminding people how well they liked the last time SCV put a fresh new spin on a classic. since there was only 5 of us who liked that show. Matt_S
I am one of the five people in the world that liked SCV 1995. That's now four of us in one thread... Where's the last missing member of our club, will he make an appearance?
SpiritOfJSUFan
anyone else nominating this for "Post of the Year" Oddly enough, that was pretty much my reaction too. "Meh...Appalachian Spring......but it's great homage to tradition...go for it SCV!" Post of the Year is an understatement. This was priceless. Could be a web video depicting SCV shows announcement. flam control
I, for one, would love to see/hear a straight-ahead treatment of App Spring...and not have them contort it into a "treatment" or "crafty" arrangement. Copland got it right the first time....no need for them to turn it upside down and inside out with the layering and weaving in of other melodies and generic chord progressions (as is the fashion these days). They could take a page out of Carolina Crown....just play great music for us old timers! SCV has been playing nothing but bleeps and boops with the minimalism stuff the past few years, it would be refreshing to hear them play a beautiful melody for once. Can't go wrong with great music and interesting drill...just PERFORM IT WELL!!!!
Hrothgar15
I think exactly what a lot of us DON'T want to see would be like what the Crossmen did with The Planets last year.

Mr. Holst no doubt converted to satan'ism after that show.
