roosevelt
I see that this article also indicates legalizing the use of water on the field. Are there any limits on this? I water effects are used, couldn't this have an effect on the field conditions of following corps? The use of water is not what you are thinking. Corps are not allowed to spray water on the field or do any effects like that. Instead, the water was adapted for the use of water for sounds in the pit (like water gongs, water phones, and other instruments/musical effects that incorporate the use of water). TAFL
IMO, it's an in-road to miking woodwinds in the pit eventually. The rule will already be in place, so it's a simple matter of a Hop or Gibbs proposal to bring in "limited woodwind color". Nah, it's the road to having a dance extravaganza on the field. See, you take your 12-member hornline and mic it. Add your 17-member battery. Put 10 members in the pit--including all your synthesizers. Let one DM drive the show. And then unleash your 110-member dance squad!
bersurkman
I have seen it and heard it just yesterday. Mic'd the baritone soloist. It's being done, folks. Didn't like it (rawrrr) but the reverb was kinda cool.
soccerguy315
I'm sure it will be done... apparently it is, according to the post above mine. It will probably be like the amped pits, which for the most part, are still too freaking loud. Turn them down, gah.

The "use of water" sounded a little scary.
Piper
What do you mean, strikes? It's not like he just slipped this into the rule book yesterday; it was voted on during the 2008 rules congress..... Yeah, but most of DCI's rule change proposals in recent years certainly didn't come from the tooth fairy. Nobody can tell me that Hoppy doesn't have his hand in the cookie jar in a major way. He seems to have a tremendous amount of influence.....maybe TOO much.
boxingfred
Hoppy strikes again! Board of 11 out of 18 Directors strikes again! Board of 15 out of 21 Instructors Strikes again! It doesn't pass if they don't agree.
