In an email from DCI

Recommended Posts

Well apparently instead of having the cajones to stand behind your own arguments, it's just better to make snide remarks about mine. I stand firmly behind my opinion, and think if you don't agree...well then I guess ....too bad for me.

Lucas Oil had a large black curtain that hung down in front of the back bleachers. They also had curtains hanging in front of the upper deck above the huge black backdrop. Most of the echoing that I heard was coming from the ceiling. If they could dampen the sound around the ironwork and roof area, Life would be much better.

Any remedy put in place at Lucas Oil will be removed as soon as DCI is done. So my question remains.....why would Lucas Oil be willing to spend that kind of money to remedy this stadium for a 3 day event? DCI and possibly Music For All would have to combine their efforts to come up with something that would work...and is easy to install...and is easy to take down. Hanging a curtain is no big deal.....but I wouldn't want to be crawling up there in the rafters hanging sound absorbent material.

Can it be done? Yes....Georgia Dome had stuff covering the ceiling this year.

As for the locals. Yeah they are ###### off at the stadium that they are paying for. Most consider it a huge waste of money and resources. I guess they don't realize the amount of revenue that new stadium and convention center bring to the city.

here's my point about the backdrop.

it works pretty well in a 15000 seat arena in Dayton. Now you're in a place 4 times bigger...right there is a huge difference maker.

I'd bet if the accoustic panels go up, it will make touring acts more interested in going there. i mean if Chesney has concerns...and he can fill the place....it isn't just us.

so if you put the tiles up top...10-1 they can get more musical groups in there to fill the 362 days we arent there and the Colts dont have it tied up.

That would make sense if they really gave a crap about musical acts. However the primary purpose of the stadium is to house the Colts! And NFL teams want ONE thing when they play at home......homefield advantage! They want that place as loud as they can. They want it deafening. Putting up acoustical panels to help out Kenny Chesney and some marching bands would really #### off Jim Irsay!

I wish they could pull a large wrap all the way across the top of the arena and completely box us in with black all the way around and up top.

Stadiums serve a lot more than their teams. They WANT concerts, conventions, etc. An empty stadium is no good for the balance sheet.

Very true... all of the stadiums here in Philly I feel are constantly being used. I mean the Linc is overused during the football season, between the eagles, Temple University, the army/navy game. During nice weather times of year there are concerts... there are soccer games in there... that's even a grass field... and it turns to #### by the end of the season, but they are making money, so why does it matter. Even the ballpark has concerts sometimes... and the arenas are probably the most used.

HersheyPark Stadium owners (HERCO) didn't give a crap about music groups either. Then they realized hoe much freakin' money they can pull in with Springsteen (30K crowd which is their max), Aerosmith(oops), bunch of new groups I don't know, etc, etc. Now music acts are there more than anything else. Point is the stadiums are a money pit to maintain so better $$$$ sense to use them other than 8 times a year plus home playoffs.

Just got the same email today. Not surprised it was a form letter and this response pretty much indicates to me that they have gotten a lot of negative feedback. I don't recall them doing this for any other championship.

I will happily go lodge the same info I emailed which was this:

Just wanted to say I went to semis and finals and was extremely dissapointed. I had "super premium" seats that cost a small fortune and put me pretty much in the endzone. Not what I call premium. The echo was unbearable and I couldn't hear most of the horn parts when the drums were playing. I've been a longtime fan but wont be coming back. Please prioritize your fans over simple finances when making decisions. I'll buy the dvd's and stay home. I'll have better viewing and sound. By the way, there are hundred if not thousands with this same opinion. Hop over to drumcorpsplanet.com and read the comments.

Yep, same situation here. Those were, by far, the WORST seats I have ever had for a DCI show. And to claim that they are somehow "super premium"? Before this year the worst seats I had for a finals (paying the same price range by the way) were off the 35. More often then not the seats were between the 40s. Yet they stick people that pay a fortune for seats in the end zones? Is that REALLY the way they want to continue doing business? To be frank I'm already dismayed enough that I'm debating not going and my decision may be a last-minute one. Shy of Spirit looking like a lock to make it back into finals or Crown looking like a lock to take their first ever title I'll be at Atlanta and Salem next year and that's probably it. Unless I can be garantueed tickets like I had for Boston, Madison and even Bloomington there's no way to justify shelling out that much money again next year.

Well, I certainly do not think the people in Washington are always smart enough to know what's best for the country... but that's another topic. When I performed at the Seattle Seahawks stadium it was not bad. They have the same setup with a retractable dome. I will be honest... it sounded about the same.

Qwest Field is an open air stadium. No retractable roof. With that being said, the stadium is consider one of the loudest in the NFL.

Sometimes, it's better to not let the masses speak. Why do you think we have an electoral college pick our presidents? Cause we're not smart enough to do it ourselves.

All but three of our presidential elections have had the popular vote and electoral vote finish in line. And those three elections that didn't gave us mediocre (at best) presidents.

Do you really think that if the people of America chose their own president over a politician that things would be dramatically worse?
