709
96 Madison 00 Madison (I don't know why, but I always loved this one) The first six notes of 00 Cavies (I'm not sure six notes get any better than that in terms of impact)
The Other Mike
I can't remember which year but SCV 79 or
MikeZ
How about 98 BlueDevils for a very solid "down" opening statement. Its pretty solid when the best "Regiment" moment of the night happens in the first 30 seconds of BD's show. Z
skajerk
The first one that pops into my head is always 1984 Freelancers: Live, from Sacramento... THE FREELANCERS! Power Suite/What Is hip
garfield
I agree with 2005 Cavaliers. But I cast my vote for 1997 Cadets (music of Philip Sparks). I got to watch them rehearse this about 20 times. Un-freaking-believable. The nice thing about an "opening statements" topic is it only takes 45 seconds to look each one up on Fan Network. Go look it up if you haven't heard it. Wow! But how can anyone POSSIBLY view the first 45 seconds without hearing the rest of the show?! Just great to be able to hear theseold shows without pulling out my CD collection! Even though I've got a got a $10,000 stereo system built specifically to listen to DC I can't turn off the FN shows once they start!
Galen
Oh I love this one! Madison from 2001. My favorite. I wish I was able to see it live. I got to hear that one about 10 or 15 times live that year. Got better every time I heard it. Another good one- Madison Alumni, 2006. I'll also take Vanguard's opening rip from 2002. Big and loud- that's drum corps!

BbTrpt1
1985 Garfield - First impact after giant scatter (guy running in from the tunnel FTW!) 1987 Star - that opening fanfare was loud as crap! Then the elephants came out.... 1992 Blue Devils - Red Light, Blue Light opening shot
