Bruckner8
The Blue Devils' tuba section is "The Line Synth". I fixed it for you. Crown's tuba section recently has been nicknamed "Sweet 16" lol, I wouldn't want that to be the nickname of any tuba line I'd march in or be affiliated with. Crown is welcome to it. Bruckner8
Crown's tuba section recently has been nicknamed "Sweet 16" I think if I were in a 16-member contra line, I'd want to be named something a little more sinister, like a 16-headed monster: Hexadecacontradactyl makes it sound like one big, ugly unit. I can hear the instructors now: "Has anyone seen the Hexadecacontradactyl?" (when wondering why the tubas are late getting back to ensemble)
SoundmanG
The Blue Devils Snare line is often referred to as "The Wall". This dates back to at least 76.

Somewhat related:I feel like most drum corps fans call Blue Devils "BD," but most of the people that I know that actually marched the corps don't refer to it as BD that often, and usually call it "Devs." Also, I talked to a staff member over the summer that marched Cavaliers, and he told me that he HATED when people called the corps "Cavies," and insisted that it should be "Cavs" instead. Don't know how prevalent either of those are. Could just be the individuals I talked to, but it was interesting to see them both hating the name that the drum corps community commonly uses for them. Most Cavalier members I've met feel exactly the same way about being called the "cavies."

That must be something with the younger alumni.

We all know the goofy ones. Where did you march, and what did you call yourselves? Garry in Vegas

You might as well call every tuba section that because most (if not all) tuba sections this past summer , in fact, had their parts doubled in the synth. BlooContraGuy
That must be something with the younger alumni. Yes, most of the people I am referring to are still marching or just recently aged out. Hey man, if your going to do that with the Dev's. You might as well call every tuba section that because most (if not all) tuba sections this past summer, in fact, had their parts doubled in the synth. really? I cant recall any other tuba features being doubled by the synth (or rather a synth solo backed up by the tubas). We had some parts (whole notes at impact moments) when the synth played the same notes as us... but that wasn't anything like what the Blue Devils did. There is a reason he's calling out just the Blue Devils.
