Penn State
Check out the video posted on Scojo's Facebook page of the snares playing on the new Pearls. They sound beautiful and like real snare drums again! No more of that tabletop Dynasty sound.http://www.facebook.com/pages/Scojo/278708...?v=281562732096 so good to hear that!!! Pearl snares sound great :)
Penn State
And the brass is back on King horns....something that has several alums on the BD board drooling (raises hand). looking forward to the quality of the King line improving with the great partnership they'll enjoy with BD
Jocko the Wonder Llama
... drop Dynasty horns. Into a large, deep hole somewhere. j/k....sorta. There is nothing wrong with Dynasty brass...that could not be solved with a suitable application of high explosives.
dcsnare93
I'm partial to Yamaha's myself, but those new Pearls sound great!
Gator Eagle
Thank God. Dynasty drums are awful
MikeN
The Pearl drums in the video sound like ... well... Pearl drums. That's a good thing. What I took away from it was, holy cow - that's their *January* line?!? Amazingly clean. And as a guy that bought a Dynasty line, I'm actually quite happy with them. We don't add heavy duty wear and tear to them, so we're not the typical drum corps, but they tune just as easy as any other brand I've ever worked with, and sound just as good. And the company has taken very good care of us for customer service. Mike
Fievel
Except Phantom's Dynasty lines have sounded nothing like BD's Dynasty lines. So...tuning has to come into it somewhere! Exactly. These Pearls sound nothing like SCV's Pearls (which seem to have more snare sound). BD really really seem to like that choked-off sound in their snares no matter what brand they are. FrenticAmnesic
Except Phantom's Dynasty lines have sounded nothing like BD's Dynasty lines. So...tuning has to come into it somewhere! True. The way BD tunes drums normally is not something I like at all. But I think the most important factor in how a drum actually sounds is the technique used to play the actual drum. Phantom and BD have such different techniques, which contribute the most to their sound quality, regardless of the tuning or brand of the drums. Dynasty CAN sound nice. But the problem I've found with them is the more they get beat up, the faster they lose their tuning, and you just have to go at it again. I've played on Dynasty drums that would drop pitch a significant rate right after a show....even after tuning them beforehand =/
Jeff Ream
Except Phantom's Dynasty lines have sounded nothing like BD's Dynasty lines. So...tuning has to come into it somewhere! yep. but, i'd imagine Phantom spends a ton of time on it. I know we used Stingrays in the 90's, and the drums sucked, but we spent hours upon hours to get em to sound awesome
