MikeN
You know, just the idea that we can talk about these corps in terms of win-loss records is amazing, considering it's less like basketball (2 teams) and more like golf, with up to 25 "teams" in a contest. jetman1287
This thread is really interesting. The experience of this board is being put to use instead of the casual "corps were better back in my day"!

I say "used to" because I stopped doing the percentages probably 15 years ago.
BRASSO
You know, just the idea that we can talk about these corps in terms of win-loss records is amazing, considering it's less like basketball (2 teams) and more like golf, with up to 25 "teams" in a contest.Mike What is also amazing is that the BD Corps in this 2 year undefeated stretch is comprised of a lot of new marchers from last year, their show is different from last year, and their competitors ranks are filled with new members, doing completely new shows oo. This streak is being accomplished in front of judging panels in different judging combinations that have never once during this streak been identical to any other judging panel combination. The Blue Devils win even when by their standards they ineviteably have an " off night ", ( as all competitors do sometimes ). The Blue Devils " off nights " in performance are even better now than all the other Corps " totally ON " nights. Now THAT's what we call complete and utter domination. No question about it. (DCP's scores / stats page has a "head to head" feature that makes figuring it out *really* easy!) Mike

It meant more to me when there were many more active corps and many more contests per season. I still maintain annual records for number of active corps, number of contests won and winning streaks. Northern Thunder
Just checking to make sure that this run stopped in Allentown '80. Yes, 27th Lancers had the highest score all year there, to beat BD. (One of the few times in DCI history that the season high score in a DCI-sanctioned contest happened away from DCI Championships.) flugelswerebugels
Just checking to make sure that this run stopped in Allentown '80. Yup. 27 beat us in both prelims and finals at DCI East - our only losses that year. I was part of that winning streak and never realized we won that many in a row until I read this thread. supersop
Garfield won 41 contests in '83 and 28 in '85. Just going off of corpsreps information. I know there are always a few shows missing from their stats, just because the info was never sent to them about particular shows. Your numbers just makes their record even stronger (and I find it strange that they performed more shows in those 3 years than BDA and BDB combined in the original post over 3 years).
