supersop
Who would want to visit Detroit? It would be like having finals in Birmingham (again) When's the last time you were in downtown Detroit? Things have changed quite a bit. The stadium is way better than the Oil Can .. the surrounding area has much more to offer to the fans in the way of shopping, food, casino's, entertainment, culture .... gosh that sounds awful!

supersop
The problem is, whether thats true or not, a lot of fans are going to say 'detroit? um.. no thanks' the DCI North regionals were always packed at EMU. That's only 20 miles down the road. Detroit isn't just downtown ... it's an entire region of suburbs that have tons to offer. It's also a quick hop over the border if you have a passport .... there's lots to do in Windsor as well. You'd be surprised how big the fan base is in Michigan. Just look at the Kzoo show this year ... that was definitely packed full. I know I travelled with about 30 people from the Saginaw Bay area ... I saw people from as far North as Charlevoix. At one time, Michigan had almost 100 corps. Most of those people are still alive and attend the shows in the area. Pack another 5k-7k of traveling fans to DCI Finals and it could prove to be a huge win. Don't forget that Michigan is one of the premier marching band circuits in the country. Every year over 5,000 students compete at state championships in Ford Field. Could be an instant sellout. year1buick
OF all the places Championships have been in the past decade (and I have been going as a fan since '00) Denver, by far has been the absolute best.No question. Stadium is in a nice area, hotels are nicely priced. The mountain air is spectacular.Denver, Denver, Denver!!!!!!! Denver would be a fun trip. (Maybe, since I'll have graduated by then, I can afford to make it out...)
va9590jm
Let's have it at the Deathstar. 1. It would probably cost A TON to use that stadium, and 2.) I'd bet that giant screen being right there over the field might just get a little distracting. I know it would distract me!

(Players couldn't really see it and, I suppose, they could just not use it if it's a distraction to the fans. No idea about the acoustics there. (Though I would assume it would have the roof closed, because of the heat.) But screw all that, it's close to me, LOL.
jonnyboy
I would vote for Northern Cali out of respect for the west coast fans and corps that travel each year, they deserve a championship. If the G7/World Series crap goes thru, I recind my vote for SCV/Devils turf and support a return to Madison.
