Mike Xmen8993
There is some unbelievable talent at the staff level of many corps. I got to thinking how the corps would do based on the talent level of the staff - taking out the talent of the members that march there. How would the Corps finish at finals if ranked by the talent of the staff alone? Here's mine: 1 Blue Devils 2 Madison Scouts 3 Cadets 4 Crown 5 Blue Stars 6 Cavies 7 Santa Clara Vanguard 8 Blue Knights 9 Phantom Regiment 10 Bluecoats 11 Crossmen 12 Boston Crusaders Have Fun! BRASSO
How do you measure staff "talent"? Good question... I was thinking the same thing. Some Corps appear to be strong in one caption, and weaker in other captions. This marcher placed his former Corps, the Crossmen pretty high. Are the Crossmen staff talented at the same levels across all the Corps sections ? I'd doubt it. This would be true with most Corps, I'd imagine. Plus, with some Corps changing from year to year some sub section staffs, and some younger staff now coming into their own, and others leaving the activity even, who the hell can keep up with all the " staff talent" across all the 20 odd World Class Corps. And who is familiar anyway with all the staffs to make an informed ranking ? It's a silly and impossible thing to rank. That said, if the goal of the OP was to boost his former Corps, ( Crossmen ) he accomplished that goal. soccerguy315
this list almost directly mirrors 2010 placement, IMO. To go further, my list would be 1. Blue Devils 2. Cavaliers 3. Cadets 4. Bluecoats 5. Crown 6. Vanguard 7. Blue Stars 8. Phantom 9. Madison 10. Blue Knights 11. Boston 12. Glassmen this is my list compiled with the help of no concrete metrics and watching drum corps shows. GREENBLUE
So im gonna base my ranking not only on talent but consistency and loyalty 1 BD: talented and together for long time 2 Cavies: talented and good mix of old (McIntosh/Koter/Gaines/Toth) with new (Shanefield/Atchison) 3 Cadets:great history tradition n talent 4 Madison: amazing talent, as talented as any, but who knows how long theyll stick around 5 Crown: amazing what theyve recently done but need to figure out how to win the big prize 6 Bluecoats: have the talent to keep them in the top 6 so how could i rank any lower? 7 SCV: with jeff at the healm you know he'll surround himself with quality 8 Blue Stars: consistently great product Edited October 12, 2010 by GREENBLUE
geluf
this list almost directly mirrors 2010 placement, IMO. 2. Madison 10. Bluecoats 11. Crossmen ...are we looking at the same list? This isn't even close to mirroring 2010 placement.
