7567BC
Stop rehashing shows! New music FTW! What constiutes a "rehash"? Playing shows from years ago with new instrumentation, amp's, larger corps; whereby a show done before can be presented entirley fresh and new? I would LOVE to hear great shows from the past done with todays larger, better trained corps with better brass and percussion equipment and guards doing who knows what to support the music. I would caution against redoing music that was relevant to the time it was played such as the Theme from Rocky, Superman, Star Wars and the like but classic time tested music......REHASH away!!!!!
BozzlyB
Stop rehashing shows! New music FTW! One has to wonder if you "rehash bashers" were around in the late 80's early 90's when certain corps were litteraly playing the same show two years in a row only with modifications to drill and arrangement. Those were true "rehashes". It would be like Phantom playing Spartacus again in 09, or the Blue Stars announcing their 2011 show Houdini, with the exact same source music as 2010 Can you imagine the response from today's drum corps community? A corps using source music that other corps have used doesn't even constitues a rehash IMO, more like another look from a different perspective. Hmmmm. Blue Devils 2011 "Another Look From a Different Perspective, Mirrors Part II" It could work!
3rd&10
Like all the stuff Hopkins has done with the Cadets that was previously performed by SCV? Make Our Garden / Candide Fanfare & Allegro Appalachian Spring Young Person's Guide Procession of the Nobles Dream Sequence from The Red Pony Dance of the Tumblers Got to wonder how the Cadets have avoided "Send in the Clowns" and "Fiddler on the Roof". At the least you have to credit them for taste. If you are going to "appropriate", do it from the best. BRASSO
Boston just put up their holiday music on face book sounds great, Have a good and safe holiday to all. Boston has been doing this for the last couple of years now ( some others do as well ), and it's pretty neat. I'm always amazed when these Corps staff just gives the charts to the campers and in no time at all they play it, and it sounds very good considering the scarcity of time devoted to it at the camps. Howdy
The Boston Crusaders are awesome. Perhaps DCI's most underrated drumcorps. Good luck in 2011.
