pearlsnaredrummer77
Some really good ideas built into both the tenors and snares, though I've gotta believe some of the extras on the snares are only going to add weight. Still, it's good to see something new brought to bear, since both Y and P have been a little complacent in developing their marching products the last ten years or so. They look heavy.... MarimbasaurusRex
Right, but Tama used to manufacture some of the drums for Mapex. This piqued my interest so I did some searching and can't find any reference to any Mapex drums ever being manufactured by Tama. Do you know which models and when? Just curious. rlrr
Tama and Mapex have always been two separate companies, Tama from Japan and Mapex from Taiwan. It's at least possible Mapex may have done manufacturing for Tama in the past. Some Taiwanese musical instrument companies got their start manufacturing instruments for other brands. Though there seems to be no evidence of such a relationship between Mapex and Tama, such relationships weren't always well publicized.
CANDRUMMER
To me it looks like yet another heavy, Formica-hard headed "McDrum". :/ What he said!!!!!
CANDRUMMER
Its too bad the Drum Companies won't make an Alumni Corps drum thats designed as in the past similar to the Ludwig Challenger or Slingerland TDR. Us old guys have a hard time lugging those heavy buggers.Add the carrier and ya got more weight. We use 10 lug snare and 8 lug tenor LUDWIG "SUPER CLASSICS" aka Challengers in our Alumni Corps with SLINGS!!! Tracked em down on EBAY had them recovered in red sparkle look, sound GREAT!! What a drum should sound like IMHO if you want that "traditional" sound.
cabalumnidrummer
We acquired many of our 12" x 15" Ludwig Super-Sensitive and 'Super Classic' metal snares much the same way. Ebay occasionally has many such drums come available, and we were fortunate to buy several a few years back.
