BamRam
How about '83-'84 Crossmen's Russlan and Ludmilla Overture? I liked the Geneseo Knights version better....lots of action in the pit. ~G~ The Geneseo version was also played at a much faster tempo. strutta
Lancers - Folk Song Suite. I'm partial to the 1972 Anaheim Kingsmen on this OTL but both performances were great! Edited July 13, 2003 by strutta
LancerFi
Any opener....umm, I mean Off the line that the Blue Devils did is awesome: My all time number one favorite is "commencement" from the 91 BD show. So powerful and intense......81 Lancers - Crown Imperial....Flags w/double silks Yummmmm 80 Lancers - Folk Song Suite - Watch Nancy tear it up !! 82 Lancers - Seahawk - again, an intense piece, accented by great guard work. 87 SCV - Russin X-mas music - emotional and full of drama 91 SCV - Overture - the helcopter effect....... 99 SCV - the Canyon..emotional and full of drama, two SCV trademarks, returning There are so many - ~G~ Thanks ~G~ , also tore it up in 1979 with the same song in the same position, #2 side closest to the 50! :P although they switched from short to tall to tall to short in 80....I kept my spot... :P 79 me and Carol A (from the Evil ones staff) used to dress center and wish we could faint instead of do the show, that's how nervous we used to be....until the corps began counting off of course... b**bs I used to pretend it was Crown Imperial....kind of.... :sshh: Bridgemen-73 William Tell Overture, the triple tongue part was amazing for a guard person! Dan Guernsey
To many to vote as the best. For c. 1970-1982, my choices are: "Globe Play House," Santa Clara Vanguard (1971) "Fanfare and Allegro," Santa Clara Vanguard (1972-1973) "Ballet in Brass," Madison Scouts (1973-1974) "Mambo," Anaheim Kingsmen (1974) "Slaughter on 10th Avenue," Madison Scouts (1975) "Crown Imperial March," 27th Lancers (1975-1976) "Channel One Suite," Blue Devils (1976-1977) "Overture to a New Era," Santa Clara Vanguard (1977-1978) "Numero Uno," Madison Scouts (1981): my favorite, especially the opening statement----one of the best things the Scouts have ever done, IMHO
