Honestly, from where I sit at the Clifton show, I get to see the competition corps' pit ensembles, and not much else.

IMO, the pit ensembles ranged from good to very good, with one (Buccaneers' pit) in the "exceptional" category.

Then again, I'm not a drummer. So what the heck do I know.

and you have proven your percussion "prowess" several times with Westshore the last few years

My biggest issue with this is people talk about DCA being the same every year and they want something new to happen. Here is a new corps and people complain about it. Im not saying its the same people saying both things but there is something great for the activity here and its surrounded by negative thoughts. No wonder why drum corps is falling apart.

I see many posters throwing out that "Negative" word but I'm not sure we all know what it means. Maybe I'm just misreading everything but I really don't see any negativity towards Cadets2 at all. I see many posts talking about C2 and some of their policies... I also now see posts talking about their performance(s), but that shouldn't be construed as negativity; that's just "discussion". Actually, if you really take a step back and read through everything.. DCP has been rather welcoming to this new corps. The only negativity I can see is from 1 or 2 posters regarding their age cap. I think many corps would love to have as many people on their side as C2 does on here.

An example of negativity: "I'm not a fan of C2 because of their age cap and because I hate their uniform. I wish they would go to DCI"

An example of NON-negativity: "They have more work to do and they are behind which us surprising".

The latter statement is not negative... it's just a review.

I see many people putting blanket umbrella statements like "so much negativity" out there for this corps, but really, when you take a good look, and I have, there really isn't any at all.

Ok- lesson is over. Sorry to ramble on.

Uhhhh....Renegades???

I don't think they did in the sheer time frame of less than a year. I don't know how seriously anyone took Renegades their 1st year.

I don't think they did in the sheer time frame of less than a year. I don't know how seriously anyone took Renegades their 1st year.

But they certainly did generate their fair share of "buzz" going into the championships in 2002, especially after winning the mini-corps title in 2001.

not even close. I do not recall the level of pure fear (of YEA) nor dispute by people with any internal rules C2 has with Renegades. Sure they have ( ok Lee has) created a little controversy from time to time, but no one was absolutely either predicting a) they'd win it all or b) they'll destroy DCA.

Now, lee did promise to possibly destroy a hotel or two, as well as maybe a law or 7.

yes and no. The fans/some marching members have been shaken up. But C2 just stays silent, which allows the plot to thicken.

Face it, Hop updates daily about C1. C2 stays silent and just lets the craziness build.

God bless those kids for just doing their thing

I think some of you guys greatly overestimate how many people in corps, whether DCI or DCA, actually care enough to post here, or even know what DCP is. Hell, I routinely go multiple years without checking this forum. The younger the member, the less likely they will come to this site. The fact that C2 members don't come here and post is probably because they don't care or even know about this site. There's no plot. There's no ulterior motives. No gag order on members. Just people that like to play music for you, blissfully ignorant of all the drama that community forums like this present.

I spoke with the baritone section of Phantom a couple weeks ago. DCP came up. They not only know what it is, they said it is often read on bus rides, down time, etc... And not one of them made a negative comment.

Good point....I was thinking in terms of the buzz at the actual show....not during the runup.

But let's be honest here....the vast majority of negative buzz aimed at C2 is because of it's connection to Hop....no matter how firm or tenuous.

If C2 had instead been Spirit2, VK2, or Pio2, we would NOT be seeing the doom & gloom brigade like we have for C2.
