I've always been impressed by folks hoisting those beastly horns, but as for a man's instrument there was girl in Blue Stars euph line few years back who was a tiny thing, and she killed it.

Every now and again there is a girl who marches euph and just owns the thing. I marched with three girls, both less than 5'5", and could handle the horn better than some of the guys. One of them runs marathons, and the other is going for a career in the Navy, and is my best friend to this day, and the third is going back next year to march again.

Guard and DM (selected guard for this poll (sometimes i feel like a poll misfit)); auditioned for baritone 1978, got cut :0 back to DM and cymbals in 79 exhibition only (being a drum line was cool) :)

oh oops, I forgot to include drum major.

Back in either 77 or 78 Blue Devils marched 6 contras; 3 were played by young women. And this was the era or high mark-time and little/no stop time.
