Best Opener 2013

I like Phantom because the drill fits the music right off the line to the end of the opener. Add the huge horn sound, the drill which features musicians marching instead of running, and a fantastic all-female guard which makes magnificent use of the human body as a mechanism to convey emotion on the football field. To me, this is a fantastic opener, the epitome of what drum corps should be, highlighted by the precision marching and beauty of the guard.

Bluecoats with the army-style marching into the big hit and awesome drill formations. Close second would be SCV with some really sick arranging of one of the songs from Les Mis.

Crown as always just blows it away in the first two minutes.

I think Vanguard, Bluecoats, Spirit, Cadets, and Troopers all have fantastic openings! I voted for Vanguard, though.

Crown's show I like, but the opener is... meh. I mean, yes, I love me some awesome brass on ASZ, but mashed up with EotB, it's just no match for their 2010 opening with Mahler 2, which is, I think, Crown's best opener.

So far the only person who has voted for The Cadets, but I think Bluecoats, BD and Crown all have awesome openers.

Favorite second movement would be BD no doubt though!

Totally agree- and wow does that guard look good in the dresses!
