Brass Score

Recommended Posts

Just a reminder that the maximum score is not necessarily a "perfect" score. If a judge thinks corps A is better than corps B to whom she has given a 19.9, even if corps A makes a mistake, she has to give them a 20.0.

Not at all true. They're fully aware when they hand out a perfect score. The difference of 19.8 to 19.9 is 1/10 of a point. The difference of 19.9 to 20 is lights year away, especially when the next closest score is 19.7.

The difference of 19.9 and 20 is also 0.1 (really 0.05 cuz of averaging). It's numbers management. 20 is not perfect.

I believe we had a 20 in 1992 at semis... 1992 was our best hornline although doesnt get the same attention.

Back to topic Crown 2013 is hands down the best hornline I've ever heard.

Lastly, for Cavaliers to ever get a 20 in brass again points to DCI judging questions. Brass was never their forte

In 1992, there were no 20s. Paul Hinman judged Brass Ensemble in semis and rather balled everyone up (Cavies with a 9.8 back then = balling everyone up). You got the 10. (9.9 in Finals)

I agree w/ you re Cavies. Again, they never got a 20 in Brass. That auspicious year (2002), they got 20s in GE Visual, Guard and Music Ensemble.

I think it means they were more than .4 better than BD's brass because some people could say "well I heard a frack, how was it a perfect score?"

Kind of how BD has received 20's in color guard even when there was a drop.

That's my justification for the perfect vs compare argument.

This is the best hornline I've ever heard.
