This review of the instrumental progressive ensemble Univers Zero sums up the Belgian band perfectly. They were part of a musical movement called "Rock in Opposition" which strove to create complex and challenging music in direct contrast to the disco and punk music being produced in the late 1970s and early '80s. The Bluecoats are thrilled to perform "Dense" by Univers Zero as part of their 2015 program. "Dense is dark and aggressive, yet accessible. A fair amount of the music has been used by Regiment as I'm sure you know, and other corps, maybe that was what they meant. I wouldn't call it a rehash show though.
