Lance
Crown did some of Barber's 2nd Essay back in 2002, but I'd love to hear a corps tackle it again. The scherzo section. I think "smurfs" every time I hear it so there's a show concept for you lol: The finale. Extremely rubato so hard to make work, but the brass writing and chord progressions are pretty stunnin

1992AllOverAgain
Not so much a music/design concept, but this approach would definitely bring a lot of engagement... https://apnews.com/article/alabama-birmingham-band-director-tased-arrested-d5700475e63b76272caa5fd64d641cd2

musicteacher
Frank Dorritie, Charley Poole and Mark Kohler were responsible for that masterful music design, and it was a spiritual experience for those who taught it and performed it. There is a little known story behind one segment of that show. Don Angelica was brought in as a sub rosa consultant. He strongly urged that "Being Alive" be included in the show. Little did most of us know that at that time, he was terminally ill. It is a show that lives in our hearts and minds to this day. 1
