noahsigs
It's National Tuba day! To celebrate, what do you thing are the best tuba/contra lines of today and yesteryear?
BRASSO
BITD, Star of Indiana, most seasons, had outstanding contrabass lines, imo. Before Star ( the late 70's.. 1980 ) the 27th Lancers for a few seasons at their height there, had great contrabass sections, imo. blakman7
As a Tuba guy, I'm loving this thread! It's about time that we get some sort of recognition! Best Contra/Tuba line........I'd have to say CBC 95, BD 98, BD 03 and Cadets 03.
ShutUpAndPlayYerGuitar
Bluecoats ... pretty much every year since Thrower started writing. Also: all three groups in the OP's first post use Yamaha ... jus sayin.
Quad Aces
1996 Phantom Regiment. Their low brass sound In general during that time period was AMAZING (says the trumpet player :) Edited May 10, 2016 by Quad Aces

The Bluecoats 2010 soli in the second movement ("Aha") gets me every time.

Oh crap! Now I really feel like a jerk. Bluecoats definitely should've been included in my list of best contra/tuba lines. Pretty much any Bluecoats show since around 2006 or so.
