Unpopular Opinions?

Agreed.

This is THE most unpopular opinion in this thread.  BD should have won every year since 2012.  I think an argument could be made for 2011 as well, but I felt that Between Angels and Demons was a much better show.

Harmonic Journey is overrated (ducks and runs)

The Zone is extremely underrated.

BDB need to make the switch to WC

I think BD should have won every year since 2012, except for this year. I'm not going to pretend to be a design expert, but I felt that this year wasn't fluid like the last several years were. There were several moments that felt uncomfortable to me. Not to mention THIS ISLAND IS MINE. I really did still enjoy the show, but I think 2013 BD was a much better product than 2016 (even with some great moments this year).

The only iffy moment this past year for me was the hairography of the Ariel segment. Otherwise. I loved the show.

Yeah, the Justin Bieber hit was...interesting, but it was no different than the K POP in 2015.  That ballad was easily the best of 2016.   IMO it should have won.

Straight out of The Tempest. Caliban was just trying to order a temporary ban on Prospero's visa program.

It was similar to K Pop, for sure. IMO, the K Pop was much more seamless and well integrated. Maybe I'm crazy, but it just grew on me and made sense with the production.

Now, I get the Bieber section and what they were trying to do, what it represented. It just seemed out of place. It reminds me of a scene from the movie Social Network, where Mark Zuckernurg is complaining about the Caribbean party and its use of the Niagra falls. The section was supposed to be aggressive like the character (spacing on the name), so they did a cool drum feature with some pan flute Bieber because... Then throw on some modern dance choreography for the horn line.

Look, I'm not trying to sound like an elitist here, even if it sounds like I am. I'm just a drum corps fan, who for the first time during a BD production since 2012 wasn't completely glued to the show. It usually has my full attention and during that section, I felt like it was a brief intermission (for me). I loved the show idea, loved most of the music, loved so much of Scott Chandler's work.

Those are just my opinions and they likely fit the thread's theme of unpopular ones. Here's your chance, DCP, tear away!

I 100% agree with this post.

Star of Indiana should not have won in 1993 (even though I loved every second of their show) *holds up garbage lid as shield and runs away*

Troopers should have made finals this year.

Colts are tremendously underrated.

For a corps to be underrated they have to be better than the corps that are rated above them :^)

Well, yes kind of...underrated also applies to corps that are unpopular and you feel should be more popular.  For example, Im not sure I would have had Colts above BDB this year, but I feel they were kind of forgotten and lost in the mix.  Therefore imo underrated.  Im not trying to be smart or anything, I just want to point out there is different interpretations of the word.

One of the only reasons I wanted BD to lose was so in the victory run I didn't need to see the hairography again.
