What Corps Is Most Underrated?

Recommended Posts

Choose a top 12 corps (or go top 20), who still seems to be underrated since 1972.

Corps that come to my mind.....Des Plaines Vanguard, Blue Knights, Purple Lancers, DeLasalle Oaklands and Squires.

The early days - Precisionaires, Guardsmen,.

Today - The Academy, Music City, Blue Devils C (they're literally children for cryin' out loud)

the only corps that could get away with playing 3 blind mice.   Hy Dreitzer arrangements if I remember correctly.  Why they didn 't go to DCI in 72 and 73  is still a mystery.

From what I've heard, Carman Cluna wanted no part of DCI.

Brassmen had a great shot at making finals both those years if they had gone.

Yep... those were Hy's charts. Some of his finest work, IMO.

Tis' true ... Carman's disdain for DCI was very vocal and we'll publicized ... I seem to remember a lengthy op-ed he wrote for DCN expressing his views

I never gave St Rita's much consideration back in those days. After seeing these positive reviews, I'll have to go back and have a listen.
