Actually, its not a theory. A scanner can snoop on all frequencies being broadcast within a specific area. A person with experience using one could easily distinguish that traffic from a conversation happening between two, three, or four people as is scans through all its frequencies.

My thought would be front ensemble since that varies from corps to corps and year to year. I’m also thinking quite a few marching members already know how to manage a soundboard. I would wonder if it would turn out that someone who auditions and is offered a contract in one area is moved to operating the soundboard. The Keytar soloist for Bloo was a mellophone player. The guitarist for Mandarins was accepted as a percussionist.
