Corps in the Heat at Mesquite (TX) - July 24, 2023

Recommended Posts

I don't think that thing suspended in the tower is a gong.  I think it's a huge suspended cymbal because it's flat.  Maybe 40 inches?

There's a technique to pre-hitting a gong to start it vibrating.  The girl who strikes it hits it like it's a cymbal.

I still am unsure how I feel about BK this season. Finalist potential, but lots of cleaning still needed

If Crossen haven't turned down their mics/speakers then I feel sorry for the people sitting in the first 50 rows!  They blow that speaker out!

Seems about on time actually.  Corps need to find something other than letting them all loose on the Riverwalk after San Antonio.

You could very well be correct. I just remember some years it would hit before San Antonio. July is the typically the month for it to strike. Tour crud is like a wapatoolie hangover. 🤮

Im gonna say it - the members dont believe in the show.  It lacks the buy in they had in that 2014-2016 run.  Compare it to Mandarins and every single one of those members is performing to the box which is making it score so well.

That’s sort of my sense too. The buy in is still rather low.  It also contrasts with Pacific Crest where you see those kids selling that show hard.

Considering they’re in direct comparison for that last finals spot, it could be something the BK staff needs to actually say and address if they can.

There’s a learn the music Vic Firth video of the timpani for part 2 on YouTube.

The good news: you too can learn to play it

The bad news: you need 4 feet, 3 arms, and perfect pitch

Is that door squeal a sound effect or an actual squeeky prop?
