NightBEAT 34 - July 30th, 2023

Recommended Posts

No fast & loose on the show title today, but NightBEAT rates a little gravitas.

Weathers’s lookin’ good, and the inaugural meeting of the [questionable] DCP CrownBRAINTRUST is on the docket.

In the inimitable words of the legend Dr. Joe Allison, “Can’t wait!”

*The DCI website says that the U.S. Marine Silent Drill Platoon Car will perform at 5:20, and Carolina Crown will do the encore along with the USMC Drum Corps. The DCI website and the Carolina Crown website do not perfectly match up. Also, does anyone know what "Joyfull" is?

It'll definitely be hot, but hopefully the rain holds off this year! Don't forget about the clear bag policy. Hope to see some of you there!

Were all Corps given the opportunity to perform both in Atlanta & Winston-Salem if they desired?  Or just the ‘top’ Corps?

So, Carolina BBQ sauce is more of a vinegar based recipe?  Love the vinegar based sauce. 🙌

Eastern Carolina is vinegar based, Western Carolina adds tomatoes.

Be careful.   People have been known to come to blows over Eastern vs Western Carolina BBQ sauce.

Honkytonk BBQ or Little Richards in Winston-Salem or if you have time to drive about 30 minutes from Winston, The Original Lexington BBQ for the penultimate NC BBQ experience

Putters Patio & Grill. Been there forever, and food’s still outstanding (ate there yesterday afternoon.

You can literally see the stadium from there.

Thanks for the great suggestions.  Unfortunately, Honkytonk and Putters are closed on Sunday, Little Richard's looks great.  Also looking at Camel City BBQ and Village Tavern if you guys have any thoughts.

It's a thing.  I am a transplant to the state, so not sure my opinion counts:  I prefer Western, but Eastern can be really good when paired with a great coleslaw to offset the acidity of the vinegar.

And a good beer.

That goes for both.

And without saying.:ninja:

It really is the perfect venue for a drum corps show.  The acoustics, and even the angle as the rows move upward coming for a true gem of a facility for a show
